Here’s something to laugh at! I don’t have this unit in my collection but the price for it is way too much for this outdated locomotive! Plus the seller is claiming that it’s new in the box.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Ka...-/294013504790?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If a buyer wants a MoPac GP50 and is willing to do the coupler conversion and pay a premium over the $90 for a preowned GP50 and avoid repainting it---Is that so bad? Spookshow gives this locomotive a "Grade A". The seller should have said it was New Old Stock. There are probably some happy modelers who have this outdated version of their favorite GP50.
Although they are good running locomotives. I have owned one in the past. The couplers are easy to change out too! Only two issues, it runs as fast as an Shinkansen. Also it’s non DCC. Unless you are wanting to go through the trouble hard wire one and do modifications to isolate the motor. Plus it has many prototypical flaws. Yes, they should have listed it as new old stock. Even though the mark up is twice the value. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
All, Not quite ebay , think it is worth a mention here $225 seriously. Tom Custom - The Freight Yard Delaware & Hudson paint over Erie Lackawanna SD45 Apparently this was a trade between both roads and then reversed when the Erie Lackawanna was a part of Conrail. Micro Train couplers installed $225 including free shipping in USA I think this was a power swap and done before the CR merger, possibly before or during ERIE LACKAWANNA RR’s D & H inclusion into N & W’s DERECO .
Yep, a bit rich there for sure. 'The Freight Yard' produced small lots of painted N Scale equipment back in the day. Here's a photo of the prototype locomotive: http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2042991
The Freight Yard had a...colorful history. They were operating out of a So Cal hobby shop (Anaheim, CA.) back when I lived near by and stopped by once or twice (that's all it took to keep me away from them). They were actually buying decorated MT cars and repainting them since MT stopped selling directly to them. I would have to assume that this engine MIGHT be real, or it was done at a request for someone since they also did custom paint jobs (if you asked and had the $$$, they would do it). Freight Yard was just one guy and an Alps printer making his own decals and doing custom paint until he started doing longer multiple runs of cars (usually not very well or accurate - IMHO). It's surprising how much product there is out there since the Freight Yard didn't last all that long as a shop or a company.
There was a 'Freight Yard' in Phoenix once. We where down there visiting family and I found them in the phonebook. *Whats a phonebook...lol *. Wife and I drove over there. The place smacked of 'We only serve rich people here' before you even opened the door ! 2 guys behind the counter looked us over once and musta decided we werent worth their time...as they went back to whatever they werent doing. Wife and I walked around. Found a few items that intrested me. But then I spotted DCC stuff that as hard as I looked I couldnt see the gold plating under the black paint that justified the price ! Found their locomotives under what looked like bulletproof glass counters. Saw the price tags and couldnt get out of that store fast enough !!! The non-greeters behind the counter never even looked up as we exited the store ! No wonder they went belly up !!
I have a few Freight Yard rolling stock... the cheaper Atlas ones. They did some interesting custom decorated Micro-trains and Intermountain Railway tank cars. I never bought the tank cars because in the early 1990's $25.00+ seemed very pricey. I have a urethane kit for a Santa-Fe mission styled train station. The company Pegasus Hobbies might have been affiliated to Freight Yard since they were in SoCal. This kit came in several separately purchased 'segments' which expanded from just a depot... to a depot and freight station and a breezeway with arches. Very rough urethane material which would require a lot of work to fit together. Still have it around unbuilt... and not a priority. All the separate parts cost about $50. I did know about Freight Yard's undecorated supply being cut off by Micro-Trains. That's still the reason why you can't buy too many undecs at a time. I did not know about Freight Yard buying up decorated cars to repaint. Cataloging their output, as a few of our friends over at Trovestar are slowly attempting, is a nightmare. If you have any items that aren't yet listed in their database I'm sure they'd appreciate the information.

I don't usually follow this thread. I was doing an internet search for a Pennsy station and this came up. https://www.ebay.com/c/666697210 Mine are converted to N Micro Tains couplers. Should I ask for more than this guy?
I have been surprised by what some of the Con-Cor sets have been fetching on that Internet Auction Community... example $699 for the Lehigh Valley Black Diamond set.
