The item shows in Georgia but it was originally purchased at a Super Giant in the Washington, D.C. suburbs. The price tag shows that. Giant was a local grocery store chain (the name still exists, but the business long since has been bought out). The Super Giant combined a department store with a grocery store (and Wally World thought that the concept was something new). There were also a few Giant Department Stores. They did sell N scale trains, there. It must have been a failed experiment, as, when I returned to the Washington area many years later, only the grocery stores remained. What is the purpose of the wire loops? Did he think that he was adding grab irons?
Is this some kind of rail polarity test car ( N and S marking)?, but there appears to be no contacts to the wheels. Weird indeed.
Looks like it was used as an aide in wiring up someones layout -- to keep the polarity straight -- actually, not a bad idea. Wolf

I did something similar on a white boxcar. BUT I used a piece of blue painters tape on just one side to indicate one polarity and the white of the other side of the boxcar indicated the other. When I was done I took the painters tape off and put the boxcar back in service.
I guess that the seller never took it out of the box, so it's jus' gotta' be "new, never taken out of the box". I have sold power chassis on FeePay, but, never at an opening bid of sixty bananas. I did have one bid up to fifty some dollars, but, that was an oddity. Usually, I got thirty to forty dollars for them.
SP9811 and All, I will assume that the seller was betting on someone thinking it's a current ATLAS one of these >Atlas N GP-38/40 Locomotives! < And not the MEHANO made one. Tom
I am not sure if all of you saw this one! N Scale Kato Custom Painted Illinois Central Sd45 Diesel Engine IC Locomotive Condition: New $200.00 + $7.90 Shipping Tom
A BACHMANN GP30 Frame runs great https://www.ebay.com/itm/153633008463?ul_noapp=true ? I don't know about all of you here, however I see a complete Chassis for the GE U36B, GP 40 and the GP 50. Apparently this person cannot distinguish a Chassis from a Frame! lol. Tom
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Atlas-Stea...345959?hash=item216231b6a7:g:hO8AAOSwayhdeuhY It continues to amaze me that people can't properly count the number of drivers on a model steam locomotive. Here is a 2-8-8-0 mechanism being listed as a 2-6-6-2. Come-on! Even if his eyes are too old to focus on N scale drivers, can't he just feel them?
Okay... so this Atlas whatever wheel arrangement appears to be straight out of the Addams Family layout... right after Gomez finished having his 'cornfield meet'. Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
(I can't help myself.) I have to comment on this 2-6-6-2 guy's listing for a "passenger car", it looks like an Overton passenger car body on a brass four axle diesel loco frame--roof walk on a cobblestone roof, no end platforms or steps. It does have couplers (Rapido). This guy must be a lone wolf modeler with no model railroader friends or visitors to give him feedback on his modeling.
