Just ordered a Z-Stuff N scale block signal. They say it uses an optical sensor and all you do is connect it to an AC power source.
My daughter wasn't all that interested in trains but my 3 year old grand daughter is. She likes to run my Treble-O-Lectric layout and says she "likes them to go slow" which is a relief. Doug
NOT my latest purchase: Arnold Rapido N kit #0698, "Rural apartment house", bought for 46.50 Austrian shillings in Vienna, 1972. Unbuilt until now. LATEST purchase: Rustoleum flat camo spray paint "Khaki" color for the body of kit, to be converted to George Schneider Building in Galveston, Texas' Strand historic district, built 1870s, as it appeared in 1950s (my layout era). I do not have a color photo of prototype from that period. I want color similar to but less brilliant and saturated as when I photographed it in May 2018, after rehabilitation and fixing to appeal to tourists as a surf shop. I assume it was less gaudy AFTER the district's heyday as a retail and business district in 1890s and before historic rehab.
Kato 2007-1 C57 Yamaguchi-Go Found it on vacation in Japan, in a little hobby shop in Akiabara for $35!!!! Used but runs like a top! If the wife and daughter weren't around I could have spent a lot more on used Katos there, but at that price, even they agreed it was a great souvenir!
I received this weekend three 53’ well cars for my intermodal train. I will add those to the three 48’ well care and the two 53’ trailer flats. I went ahead and ordered 5 more cars and 3 more containers to finish off my train. 3 53’ well cars and 2 48’ well cars. That should do it for a while now.
Rounded out the freight rolling stock... for now... with these bad boys. Found’em super cheap. It was shocking enough to find them at all these days.
Double stick tape from the corner supermarket. I tape structure kit walls to cereal box cardboard with tape on the bottom, for spraying in my outdoor spray "non-booth". I used to try to make little loops of masking tape to hold stuff down but usually cam e loose. I can use piece of cardboard bigger than what I'm spraying, have a place to hold it,, carry it, without getting fingers in wet paint.
I scored a sound diesel sound decoder and a sound equipped reefer for a friends birthday. I just need to decide what to put the decoder in, a SD45 or Dash9.
No excuses! Get on with it! The reefer I ordered for a friend showed up today and of course I had to try it out. Nice. Looks and sounds great. I will have to look into how to adjust the frequency that it runs, but at least the volume is adjustable.
Received in today's mail some replacement parts from Micro-Trains to fix a few cars that have been sitting on the RIP track. A dozen 8 ft box car doors. A dozen round hatches for covered hopper cars. These are not listing on their web site but I called them and they sold them to me for 25 cents each or $3.00 for the dozen.
Pulled the trigger earlier in the week, with a trip to Denver. Got the 2 current Micro Train DRGW passenger cars - combine and diner. And a bunch of reading material!
Bottle of Plasti-zap and latest issue of "Remember The Rock" magazine. OH...and Steven Tyler tickets !!! Does that count ???
A couple more cabooses: A C-30-1 - #72 and a C-30-3 - #27 (I have to renumber the C-30-3) - and, paint the wheels. I have already added couplers. Thanks, Wolf
