In our freelance history, the Northern Pacific wanted to open a route from Logan, MT to West Yellowstone to connect to the Union Pacific but the interstate commerce commission wouldn't allow them. The GC&W was financed partially by the NP to run the route south, but they could not connect to the NP. Therefore, the Logan Valley came about to be a bridge railroad from Logan, MT to Gallatin Gateway, MT where the GC&W took the loads over headed south. We were both fans of he NP and my friend wanted the paint scheme to resemble the NP. We even had the route drawn out on a USGS map which was hanging on the wall in my friends layout building. Unfortunately, my friend passed away before his layout could be completed. In my freelance world, the Logan Valley eventually bought out the GC&W and these two units, plus a number of freight cars have not yet been repainted.
Montanan, I watched the video tour of your layout and I think it is great!!! Your attention to detail is fantastic. Joe
Thanks for the comments Joe. It is a work in progress. Some of the older parts of the layout will be upgraded in the future.
