Can you Zscalers show some pics of your trains?I have always been interested in Zscale but didn't know what is available in the market as far as modern era stuff. Thanks
There are quite a few modern locomotives now available for Z scale. One place to visit is the American Z Line pages on the Ztrack Magazine web site. Ztrack is the distributor for AZL and we have posted photos of all locomotives and roadnames. The link is: AZL pages Another site to visit is John Cubbin's Beginning is Z scale web pages. On part II of these pages is a locomotive availability page illustrating a variety of Z locos from different manufacturers. Beginning in Z Scale Another site worth a visit is FR out of Germany. They are a small manufacturer of very fine Z scale trains. Last year they released F40PHs. There web site is: FR US program Finally, visit the Micro-Trains web site. They are preparing to release GP35s for Z scale. These will be very popular. MTL web site I hope this helps! Rob Kluz
I have a few modern things like F59PHI's and SD-45's, mostly for club running, but I like steam best for home consumption. Here is my newest car, an ACF covered hopper as built in 1963: My newest engine is an NP Mikado, so it's not really new. -Robert
I don't have many pictures of Z sale. I took these using my flat bed scanner. Not much depth. This started out as a Marklin European style coach. I am still working on making a better roof with ventilators along the side of the clearestory. I am making a new RTV mold to cast them out of resin.
Nice passenger car! Please post pics of the new roof you are working on, when you get the castings off. -Robert
Russell, do you have any pictures of your Nn3 layout to show? I'd sure like to see them if you do, as much of what is done is interchangeable with Z scale. Thanks in advance if you do.
Not much yet. I have built up four turnouts and am working on what will be my staging yard. I have a loop of track that goes all the way around the yard (only a siding so far) and have a wye at one end that will connect through a tunnel in the wall into the room where the layout will be. I can at least run my trains in a circle right now and turn them on the wye to go the other way. The backdrop and the lighting are really all I have finished in the layout room so far. I need to get going on this project big time.
