Well, I'm getting ready for the first Z Scale convention in Columbus in 3 weeks, and am wondering who all is going? I have been looking forward to this trip, as a vacation is always nice, and the train talk has been slow lately. I wonder what kind of temperatures, and humidity they have in Ohio. Humid like Boston and New YorK? I will bring my swim trunks anyways, just in case. I am working on another model right now too, an NP 36' radial roof wood boxcar with fishbelly side steel underframe, circa 1900. NP had 1700 of these cars, and 350 survived the 1940's rebuild, and few lasted into MOW service into the BN era, or were rebuilt into bay window cabooses. Fu project, although I'm still in the research and development phase right now. I should have a few ready to take to the NTS. So, who's going to the Z convention or the NTS for other scales? -Robert
I will only be there in spirit. I am sending a passenger train I painted up for Bill K. along with him.
Unfortunatly I wont be able to make it, but I am going to be in the area a week later. I am driving up from Florida to Montreal, then east to Maine. I figure about 5000 miles for the whole trip.
There are a lot of folks coming from Houston, San Antonio and Dallas. Houston is bringing a trailer full of modules. See you there. Bill K. Houston
I can't go to the Z convention in Columbus but will be in Cincinnati at the NTS on Saturday, July 9. Hope to see you there! Doug
Robert, just dont forget to take the camera. I am appointing you the official photographer of zheads who cant make it to Columbus.
I wish I could go but my wife is going to give birth in the next 5 weeks...I think that will be FAR more important than our little trains!
Unfortunately I have to work. The weekend in Cinn might be a possibility. But my summer is pretty much shot this year. Oh well, maybe next.
I just got 4 new 64M memory cards for my camera, so I will be taking lots of pictures. I'll be sure to post about all that is going on. I will be wearing a t-shirt that says "BAZ BOYS" on the back, with our round black "Bay Area Z Scale Module Cooperative" logo. Just look for the Big Fat Guy who is foaming about Z Scale... That would be me!
Just a reminder that the convention is next week! I hear the registration is up over 100 Z Scalers so far! 100! All Z Scale pleasure with all Z Scale people! I have short timer's desease so bad, I can't concentrate on the job, so the boss moved me off the laser tool, and back onto steppers this week so I don't accidently burn the place down! -Robert
Correct we are at 100! Wow, 100 crazed Z scalers in one room (um made that tent), it is going to be AWESOME! We have quite a lot planned for the day. See you next week! Rob
I wish to see tons of pictures and a huge report in Ztrack magazine If such an event is planned again in a few years I might fly to the states, I would also like to hook on a week of rail fanning though
I'm set now. I got 5 memory cards for the camera, the trains I'm bringing, and my suitcase packed. I still have to finish base scenery on Kim Vellore's Z Scale house with automatic garage door, lights, and cars that back in and out. It needs a box too. See those who's going Tuesday!
Hi, all, Turns out I'm going to get to visit the NMRA Nationals for 24 hours on Fri night/Sat, so I'll stop by the Z display, say hello, take pictures and be happy share them online. (smile!) See you there.
I have no doubt there will be plenty of photos taken. Cover your eyes before you look at any photos taken of me. <smile> Bill K.
