Can anyone direct me to a dealer who carries small Z scale wheels? I need some wheels to put under N-scale MOW equipment. thank you TOM
those are just regular freight car wheels. i think the guy wants the smaller ones used on mow stuff. like a foot in diameter or so. dont think anyone makes these. jim k
Thanks Chis and Jim. Jim you are correst. I'm looking for the type from a steam loco front truck. I want to make some Railway Express Minitures MOW equip actually roll on track. maybe even a track inspection buick veh. with wheels to roll on the rail....
tom, i'm looking for TINY brass grommets (electronic supply i think) for just the same thing. i want to make a high rail vehicle and i've seen brass grommets this size, but just can't find them now that i want some. i think they would make perfect wheels for this kind of project (and could roll): they have small diameter and a "flange." maybe someone will chime in with a suggestion for a source of these. dave f.
You might find something like that at Michaels, it looks like the kind of thing used in crafts of some sort.
The AZL trucks have good scale sized wheels with a wider tread than the plastic ones. http://www.ztrackcenter.com/parts/ David: are you looking for a single sided eyelet? A lot of them are flanged on one side for insert, then crimped to flange the other side for capture. They are also used for test points, allowing a probe tip to stay put. Here is one company (can't find the other I was thinking about): http://www.stimpsonco.com/flange_barrels.htm .
Would the pilot wheels from a N scale Bachmann 4-4-0 work? You could buy a cheap 4-4-0 off ebay or get the wheels from the Bachmann parts department. Edit: Also Republic Locomotive Works makes fine scale Nn3 metal wheels that come as 8 metal wheels, 4 axles, and 8 insulating hubs (plastic). The hubs appear that they could be used as small wheels. https://www.republiclocomotiveworks.com/show_item.php?ID=1
