I have stopped by the Yreka Western many times while running up and down I-5 to visit our children. Bill and Karla Killion have been so nice to us when we stop by. I have taken a lot of pictures there. This time up, missed Bill and Karla, but shot a picture of the yard. I happened to notice some "graffiti" on the water tower which I never noticed before. Thanks to the clarity of the photos on the Nikon D-50, I blew up the detail in that photo. Wow! A line right out of "Emperor of the North" which I recently saw for the first time. Bill, has that always been there and I just didn't see it????

Satokuma, do you still have that photo of Ironhorseman up on the water tower from a couple of years ago? I'd be interested to see if that was on the tower then. :teeth:

This can't actually be from Emperor Of The North? Wasn't that movie completely filmed on the OP&E?

To continue the discussion off of Trainorders...fitz, that writing is brand new as of this summer. It definately was not there back in June. My guess is that someone got inspired by the recent release of this movie on DVD.

Boxcab- MOST of the movie was filmed on the OP&E. The movie people shot a few scenes on the SP&S Vernonia branch.

Jeff, thanks, that's what I thought. I am sure (not really, getting old) that I would have noticed it before. Here's the original photo. I got curious as to what the writing on the tower was--that's the beauty of the digital SLR, which enabled me to crop out the tower with all the detail showing up.

The image may be too big. If so I'll go edit it's size and repost.

Jim .. the lettering was placed on the water tower by Bill Ainsworth, (one of my firemen) in August 2006. He thought it would be an attention getter. :)
And yes, Emperor of the North was shot almost entirely on the OP&E.
