Yreka Western concludes excursion season

    Sad news from Yreka today. Per their web site:

    Due to the impact of the California wildfires and the flailing economy, Yreka Western Railroad has concluded its 2008 season and special events. ​
    Thank you for your patronage​

    I'm just glad to have had a part in it. We'll see how it plays out from here.

    Sad news indeed. While the Yreka Western is quite a ways from here I had the chance to ride behind the 19 in both Yreka and Cottage Grove.
    with teh fire danger it is understandable from that stand point.

    Good News: Per the YW's web site as well as people at the railroad, the Blue Goose Excursion Trains will continue through August on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Apparently the "Season has Concluded" notice on the web site was a mistake.

    Looking forward to firing and running Pancho some more this year,
