Being that I am staring my N scale empire (I wont say that stuff about my HO days 13 years ago since I say that every other posting is seems.....ooops ) I currently only have three locos with some BNSF and ATSF snoots on a waiting list (One can only hope). So until then my current favorite loco running on my homely test oval would be my 1977 Rivarossi 2-8-8-2 UP followed up with my Kato SD45 BN More to locos to come during the year!!

NO - my engines are too expensive for me In any case they are way to big for the layout. (they are #1 scale!!) ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com http://Andersley.homestead.com http://galleryusarail_tehcaj.homestead.com

Gee Alan,My #1 scale locos fit on my NTRAK modules . Of course they don't go around the corner modules very well. ------------------ Catt!
You just need to change scales Alan, there is a rich kid in TAMR doing 1:1! Dane N. ------------------ TAMR2860-AKA BC Rail King TAMR2860@hotmail.com
I'm new to his forum, so I hope you won't mind me putting my 2 cents worth in on the subject of favorite locos. I'm quite partial to my brand spankin' new ConCor/Rivarossi BIGBOY! Got it on Ebay and probably got gouged on the price, but it sure runs great. Only problem is that now I need a larger turntable.
I think my favorite models are the EMD SD45's and GP30's. Despite my UserName, I grew up near a Southern yard... high nosed SD45's and GP30's were a special treat. (I actually have photographs I have taken of almost every GP30 rostered by the Southern railroad!) [I guess the GP49X should also get an Honorable Mention for it's use of the SD45 style radiators...]. The SD45's appeal to me mainly for the use of their flared radiators, while the GP30's have that early 60's "futuristic" look styling. Chessie P.S. to Catt: The link to the NS high nosed unit is nice, but from my experience, most of the SD45's were retired before being repainted into NS livery.. the road # on this unit would indicate it was from N&W and may have been actual.
Chessie the # is correct and the unit did in fact make it into NS paint.I checked all this out just to confound them dadburned nit pickers.(what the heck is a nit anyway?)While it is no longer on the roster it quite correct. ------------------ Catt!
Yeah another Chessie fan! ------------------ Theres no such thing as having to many coal hoppers or GP40-2 when you model Chessie System LONG LIVE THE KITTEN!!! LONG LIVE BIG BLUE!!!
