I see that the Yahoo format was discussed on the Z scale list the past few days. Although I like this forum format better, the Yahoo group is outstanding and very informative. I just find all of the Yahoo group lists annoying to navigate. I'd like to see them consider Trainboard as an alternative but I don't know if that will happen. Any thoughts?

    Regards!

I think there are a lot of people who just use the Yahoo list to get their email box filled, and have lots to read. They then reply by email, and never really go to the Yahoo Groups list much.

The Yahoo list has some good features, like a place to store files, how to's, and a few other useful things, but the Trainboard Forum makes it easier to navigate topics, because all the replies are under 1 topic, not strewn over several days.

Another neat thing about having the topic's like they are here, it that a topic may not interest you now, but a few months down the road, you might be interested, and the topic is easy to find.

I do wish there were more people visited the Trainboard Z Scale forums though. It's kind of like a getting a copy of Ztrack Magazine every few days.

    Doug:

I'm not sure I could deal with the "no mail" option and have to wait, and wait and wait for Yahoo to let me see the post. Or the "digest" either for that matter. At least with individual emails I have the "save to hard drive" and "delete" functions available.

Like all lists, there is an occasional jewel somewhere in the noise that makes all the speed reading worthwhile.

The shortcoming of a Digest, except on the busiest Groups, is they only go out once every twenty five messages, or twenty four hours. Whichever comes first. So you can end up waiting a while.

Checking the home web page of the Group, you can see any message, usually within seconds of it's being posted. Unless Yahoo Groups has one of it's famous glitches. Those are frequent......

    Yes, YahooGroups offer different options...

I belong to several that I don't get e-mail from, I am just a member. Members can view the messages online in the group and even view files and post, without having to receive too much mail.

The yahoo group is ok. I like the fact that there are several knowing people who will answer all sorts of questions. I prefer to post on this site because it is easier to navigate and the pictures are nice to have in the post. Having said that I will post on yahoo if I feel I can help someone with some info that they have not already received.
