This question is sort of for DC and DCC. I am using a constant rail for the neg side of the track. For now I am going DC but am using a sort of bus system for the positive side and will use switchs on a control panel for now. Here is my question I know that each power section has wire drops every three feet but do you have to have as many neg drops as positive since the neg rail is not broken.

I would. If you loose connection at a rail joiner the connection would be maintaned.

When out club was built in the middle 1980's, we installed feeders every so often for the common rail. Don't remember how many or how far apart.
It was all wired with #22.
We eventually added #14 for the buss when we went to DCC and cut the block section wires to about ten inches long, splicing those to the buss wires.
