Took the family to a place called Windmill farm near Burscough in Lancashire today. It is half term so the kids are off school and it looked really interesting. There was method in my madness though as I had been meaning to visit its 15 inch gauge railway for a while Heading the train today was 'Dudley' A Perkins tractor powered Bo-Bo Very functional buildings hold the rest of the fleet, Not open to the public The workshops, accesed by lengths of sectional track put in place when required So we went for a trip to Lakeview where we found this delightfull station building. Turns out it is an original Great Western railway (Not that one) originally situated at Bristol Temle Meads station Our Brooklyn in the cab of Dudley So we got talking to the driver Paul and I told him I was a member of the Narrow gauge railway society Going for a beer, back soon Kev
Paul said the main man behind the railway was not in but if we waited until after the Lambs had been fed he would open up the locoshed for me and Brooklyn to have a private visit Wow need to do a lot of cross referencing to identify all these This one is 'Battison' a 2-6-4DE originally built in 1958 and rebuilt in 2012 No less than four replicas of the LNER A4 were in the shed Duke of Edinburgh was built by Barlow in 1948 and is a 4-6-2 DE More tomorrow Kev
There are six actual steam locos listed. a couple are incomplete. One was in the workshop and Sian, the famous one, is out on loan somewhere at the moment We will be going there again this year and I'll see if the owner will move some of them outside for us to have a better look The Pullman was built by a retired woodworker This is quite a good representation of a British Rail Western class diesel Kev
