Spokane has 3, the 1710, 1714, and one other that escapes my mind. All 3 are RCO equiped, choped nose's, and depending on the day OK pullers.

There is one up here in Vancouver BC, usually seen in the old BNSF yard behind the former station in New Westminster or working the Brownsville job.
Its a chop nose in the usual orange and green scheme, its paired up with some SWs most days.

There were some in Tulsa, OK in Cherokee Yard some time back, but since I haven't had the chance to head that way, I haven't been able to confirm or deny this.

And I agree with Hemi- having had the chance to watch PNWR SD7 1501 (an ex-SP motor) bat cars around the PNWR yard in Albany, OR, I miss the sound of a non-turbocharged 567.

I think only the SD9-3's were rebuilt with 645 blocks, and I think there were only 4 rebuilt.

Which ones? Thought all the existing ones had been through West Burlington by now...

The Yreka Western has one. It is a former SP unit which the YW got from the Mt. Rainier Scenic last year. They are having some problems with electronics (relays) but expect the unit to be back in service by the end of this month. :)

Having looked at the video Hemi linked, I am wondering- What is the BNSF official designation for the 1712? SD9__?

BNSF 1712 (BN 6176/CB&Q 374) is designated as an SD9-3. Originally built in November of 1955, it now has a 16 cylinder 645 prime mover inside. It is also equipped with remote control electronics. There are about 15 other SD9s on the roster that still have their original 567 prime movers. I lost count how many SD9s are on the roster, but there are about 35-40. A few still show the GN as the "owner" of the loco!

There used to be several working the yard in Galesburg. Anyone know if that is still the case?

The financing behind railroads is quite interesting to follow. A few years ago, I was reading up on some of the old BN family long term bonded debt. Which was to come due after 2000. I wonder....
