    Hello,

I'm new here. Could someone help me where I should look to get actual dimension information on passenger coaches such as the
AmFleet I and Horizon coaches and others.

Also, when is the older stock sold to public for private use. Is there a publication with prices or website?

I enjoy train travel and would like to have
my own coach someday for private family travel. Is there a website for private coaches used on the railway??

    Thanks!! j.d.

I'm sure there are several newer publications out there and some with more spec's that your looking for. All I have is the old 1978-79 Amtrak Annual. It gives just a little info into what you may be looking for.

I can say that MOST Passenger cars are 85 feet in length, but it's best to contact actual manufactures of the cars you are interested in. Go to your search engine on your server and ask for either a historical group or Railway car manufacture. Hope that helps a little,

Amfleet I's & Horizons are 85 feet 4 inches over coupler faces. 59'6'' between truck centers for Amfleet I's. Dont know if the same for Horizons.

For passenger car sales try Les Kasten's Illinois Transit Assembly. http://www.iltransit.com

Very good selection of cars, and very reasonable prices, but be wary. A PV car, no matter what the use is for is an investment. You will have to put a lot of time into to if you arent going to have a shop do all the work. If you want to bring up to Amtrak spec to run on tail end of trains it definitely will cost you some $$.

I got lots of Heritage car dimensions. Need some drop me a line.

Oops! Forgot to mention this. Go to the American Association of Private Rail Car Owners site. http://www.aaprco.com

Some advice and a lot of listings of passenger cars are there.
