Does anyone know when the Frisco stopped using train orders and time tables for traffic control? I heard it was in the thirties that they began installing signal systems for traffic control...

Mike I'm not sure of the date you are looking for, but I know in the late 70's we still had train orders and train class as per TT. I think you are talking about train orders setting up meets with wait orders. These you didn't see in CTC territory because the disp. had direct control. I know around 1979 they changed over from trainoders to CTC on the Creek sub (south from Tulsa to Tezxs) The Cherokee and Afton sub were CTC when I was there. Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the information. I am still a novice at operations, so all information helps. I operate a model railroad that represents part of the Frisco's Western Division in 1939. Your message was a help in knowing that orders were used for meets, since there was one freight and one passenger in each direction (north and south) each day. Plus, the crossing of the Western Division by the Southwestern Division in Snyder, OK.

How they kept from running into each other before signals was the basis for the question.
