Steve, Was this on the BNSF? Did it have any reporting marks?
Looks like it's half GP35 and half GP38.

man frisco i can't believe that 9661 is still around, i had that on our local consist(decatur-peoria) for several weeks back in '98 and it was a POS then, never would load consistantly. finally burnt a traction mtor out on it pulling a grain train through bloomington with it.

That's a GP35 that's been deturboed, derated to 2000 HP. MoPac did 17 of their GP35s this way, and I believe other roads or rebuilders have done the same. If it still has the 16-567 block, it's had 645 power assemblies installed (this particular model of block can accept 645s without boring out) and been rewired, so for all practical purposes it's a GP38.

RA tends to lease most if not all of its power- IIRC, this came from RPMX, as did two GP38-2s presently on the KRR roster.

The Utah Railway, as well as some Mexican road - I don't remember if it was back in the FNM era, or by Ferromex or TFM.

this would be one of my post to this thread but my shot is in slide format. Glad you got this shot, I got the loco running while I was there. And loved that unit, may even build a model after it one of these days.

(BTW, there's only one of this type of locomotive left running......)

Bad paint AND bad scenery work...

    [IMG][/QUOTE]

Not only is the paint awful, but they haven't even vacuumed up the loose and excess Woodland Scenics Medium Green turf yet. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy...

I've been wanting to post something on this thread for a while, but didn't think I had anything. This one must have slipped through the cracks, as I completely forgot about it. It was taken on the CSX in Louisville, KY, right behing UofL's football stadium.

Not only has UP adopted the SP philosophy of washing diesels (in other words, NOT washing), they have now apparently adapted the practice of crappy painting SP had....

SD60M 6341, lead unit of a 3-unit consist at the west end of the former Katy's Ray Yard in Denison, TX. Don't think that pole is big enough to hide behind, Chief.......

    BNSF 921

BNSF 921 is leading the UPS pig train NS 229 by Wilmore, Ky on Oct 15, 2005. Time has took its toll on the paint job. :(

Typical- most every GE painted in "Fleet" colors look like crap, while the EMDs with the same scheme look good. Gotta be the quality of paint GE and EMD used- GE's was the cheap-jack stuff.

At any rate, it's a sad remnant of a once-proud color scheme.

What's left of former Rio Grande F9B #5763. Left out to rot away, along with everything else at Cheyenne.

Thankfully, the #5771 an #5762 were donated to Colorado Railroad Museum and restored!!
