Are they 9043's or the 6000 HP SD90's?

Are they 8500's or other series?
My guess is renumbering to make room for more ACez......

I thought the 8500 series was reserved for the SD90MACs, and the number series below that were where the "90-lites" (SD9043MACs) and "Big Aces" (SD70MACes) resided.

Are there any 6,000hp locos left anywhere?

I caught a very few of the 6000 HP SD90MAC-H loco, while on the Moffat, caught more on the Sherman Hill line. The GEez were most prevalent on the Moffat.

Bob, that's what I'm figuring on, as well.

The H-MACs are 8500's, at least this one is in that series, just west of Tunnel 2:

Are there going to be more or is the 6000hp engine unsuccessful?

What is GE doing in the big horsepower race, if any? Thanks

There are definitely 6000 hp engines still around, but the second horsepower race is over.

I still see a few of the UP SD9043MAC's around from time to time. But not as many as their use to be.

I recieved an email with several shots of these unit lined up at Denver. The pics verify they are the 89xx series SD90AC 6000hp units. Leases are up.

Interesting I thought the 6000hp version of the SD90MAC's had that 45 degree bevel over the prime mover hood. I did not see any of those in that line of SD90MAC's. Will have to get back over there and check again.

    8900's?!?
Whatever happened to the 8500's? Renumbered?

Yeah, the H-prime mover MACs have the beveled hood edges like so:

    Yep, 89xxs. :D

SD90MAC-H(SD90AC) #8500-8521 were renumbered into the 8910-8931 series. This was due to their pending return to leasor and to clear the way for SD70ACes. The pics I received include 8911, 8920, 8916, 8927, 8929 and many others that I can make out the 89 on but not the rest. Only a few shots are usable for my site so they will be in the next update. I am trying to have my contributor go reshoot individual shots of each one for me. We'll see. :D

That's an H, not an HII by the way. You can just make out the older nose.

Not exactly... both EMD (265H) and GE (GEVO-16) are building 6000hp units for China. Should be interesting to see how these pan out...
