Yeah, common 60-70-80's era tank cars, like the märklin 8214 set or 8643 GATX. And I'll be the first to buy a 'beat up' gondola, like 2 that do 3D printing said they would do over the past 2-3 years. Metal wheel option might put you on a new level too. They roll sooooooo much better. And, keep the track clean.
it's not the variety, or lack thereof. it's simply the eyeballs. Especially the eyeballs of the aged hobbyist who can enjoy the hobby without stealing from the kids college fund - both long gone, or so the old geezer hopes. optivisors are my best friends....but The tactile feel of the O gauge traincar in your hands, the level of detail enjoyed sans optivisor, the heft of a brass Sunset locomotive with all the fiddly bits attached and working hatches and dcc-fired couplers and sound like a Dolby digital theater and smoke and chuff and simply the smell of arcing ozone in the morning, and a third rail that never needs cleaning, and dcc-operated accessories and buildings and prebuilt model working carnival rides and and and and......i could go on. i salute z, so much done in such a micro realm, but i play with O. my eyeballs thank me. and O makes me feel like a kid again.
Thanks for the response...this is what I call SOLID input! This is the kind of stuff I can take to management so they can see beyond the numbers. The reality is the market is much, much smaller overall, but a few are doing well because of that...mainly the few dealers that are left. I love Z and think it has room to grow, it won't with $50.00 boxcars though. I'll add this to my next review and see if I can shake something loose. A few things you listed here are already under development so hang tight Cheers Joe
Looks like there is still a brand new one available here. Maybe if you hurry... http://www.zscalemonster.com/mt/970-00-000/ Dom
