I was wondering, what kind of things do you have planned for your N-Scale layout or Module? Are you expanding your locomotive roster or rolling stock? I'm currently trying to work on a new 4ft. outside corner module for N-Trak. It will have a locomotive service area and also use the Branchline option. [ 31. I'm finishing work on my 32"x32" turnaround module. My standard is Sub-N, which I actually made up before the other guys started doing oNe-trak, T-Trak, Bend-Trak, ect. I used to be an N-Trak modeler, but since I'm lone wolf now, I decided to make my home layout modular. I have already moved 3 times in the last 8 years, and each time the layout was setup differently to match available space. Here are diagrams and pictures of the module I'm working on now, the diagram shows a 4 stall roundhouse, but I replaced that one with a 3 stall one:
I'm laying track in anticipation of a wiring "party" in late February. Work is on the first leg of my L-shape shelf layout. Underway is the largest, 16'x18". The other shelf, 6-8'x18", will go up when much of the first is completed.
As seems to have become the norm- Am trying to get the accumulated backlog of everything else cleared from my desk, and modeling bench. Boxcab E50 [ 31. January 2003, 21:16: Message edited by: BoxcabE50 ]
well i am currently working on the structures for my yard for the n scale group, then i have about 20 enignines to paint and decal along with several sets of alan curtis spines and well cars, also forgot have to do my mopac roadrailers and paint whole bunch of mt trailers for another member here, than after that is all said and done, i have another corner module and a couple 4' mod to work on. and then build racks in my trailer for it all!
Robert, that roundhouse scene looks superb! My layout is in the throes of a rebuild. I thought I was rationalising it, but there is actually more trackage than before I am currently fitting and wiring turnout motors, so there is not any progress to show, but hopefully I will soon be able to show some pics of the rebuilt layout taking shape.
Right now, it's been hard to work on the layout, because the temperature has been so cold here in Northern Wisconsin. I've moved some modeling up to the dining room table, but am limited to what I can do that does not have "FUMES" that would bother the rest of the family. I've completed the Arrowhead Convenience Store and Suburban Fire House, using acrylic paints. Now, I am looking at relettering some locomotives. Maybe soon the weather will warm up enough to permit staying in the basement for more than just a few minutes. Right now, the basement temperature is only 46 degrees (too cold to spend much time down there). Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R. Mostly just trying to clear out the backlog. Just got my AC LongRunner assembled (Thanks Alan for the help with the drawbar) and now I'm finishing up 3 MP coal hoppers (thanks Trainworx for making them). Next up will be making 53' trailers. This will probably be a matter of bashing a couple of Atlas or ConCor trailers together, but what's the point of having a "Triple 53'" car to carry 45' trailers?
Having got the scratch-building bug, again, (it helps me avoid scenicking, even though I've got to do it!), I just finished building a 20 axle Schnabel and have started another one, this time 22 axles. Should keep me busy a week or two..... then, I GOTTA get back to the scenery thing!
suggestion--- the D-I Amtrak roadrailers are at dealers now (RGH has them, I just checked) for $10, all you need to do is strip the logo (doesn't appear to be much), maybe shim the road axles to proper height, and there ya go.. sure beats cutting and attaching two trailers Just a thought!!
I am currently working with Mitch on 7 new modules for my Ntrack group.4 6' modules and 3 4' modules. They ought to be something to do for a while. Then next on the work bench will be 2 or 3 4' corners.
Not really much doing on my layout, got to complete the scenery on my new hill i built, and im waiting to be able to afford some more turnouts before anything else can be done. After that i plan on building a small siding where hopper cars are loaded with gravel by front end loader, if all goes well that might be done in about a month.
Bah... Since all that costs money, and I have a chronic lack thereof, anything layout related is on hold for the time being.
i am currently working "senic ridge" by woodland senics. i just got done with the laying of the track. this layout is worth the money! i used flex track by atlas on all the layout except on the siding. [ 02. February 2003, 22:05: Message edited by: UP&Santa Fe nut ]
Work on the benchwork has slowed (too cold in the garage to cut and build layout sections), but I did get the raised platform for the dispatcher's office and the walls framed.... it will look like an interlocking tower from the outside. Part of the framing involved the plywood base for the south end of Savanna Yard, so I guess the benchwork is back underway. Charlie
I just finished a couple of kits I got for Christmas. I am also in the planning stages of expanding my layout to a 12' x 12' L shape. Here's some pics of the kits I built: This is Model Power's Old Coal Mine kit: http://home.houston.rr.com/guppyman/pictures/coalmine.JPG Here's a container crane I built but got way too close with the picture. It still needs to be weathered. http://home.houston.rr.com/guppyman/pictures/crane.JPG [ 04. February 2003, 13:54: Message edited by: guppyman ]
I guess I'll bite.... I just finished laying all of the cork roadbed for my double mainline on my 8'x17' open in the middle layout. I plan to start laying track as soon as I figure out how to stick it....
Finished it. Now I can back to scenicking. Oops, just noticed I didn't install the brake wheels. Got to delay the scenery a little longer! [ 07. February 2003, 06:27: Message edited by: absnut ]
I have been pirchasing some rollingstock from Alan, i'm currently awaiting the arrival of these 10 impack cars. I have already received 10-48 foot trailers from Hasbro I have also purchased two sets of the new log cars and will paint them as Montana Rail Link cars To complete my MRL roster I am considering buying these box cars to compliment the log cars With a pending birthday next week I hope to order 4 of these [ 07.
