A couple of Scaletrains SD45Ts. See through grills at the back! I did have to tweak the motor control settings to get things running smooth at speed step one but rarely do I not have to do this so no big deal. Sound is excellent and lighting has good intensity. Mars/Gyralights in the nose work on a separate function button. I guess it's nostalgia but this is my favorite looking livery. Just seems all business to me. Problem is there is a GP30 release coming up soon which includes more Rio Grande and I'm thinking I'm going to need to get a couple of those too.
A CMX track cleaner should be arriving in about a week, along with a Soundbox card for US Light Steam. I don't have a working steam loco, so...
A steam engine does have a cylindrical body like the CMX tank cleaner. They ought to run with the idea and work out the minor details.
9 ScaleTrains SD40T-2's arrived recently, 6 D&RGW and 3 SP. - The D&RGW tunnel motors are #5356, 5369, 5372, 5387, 5390 and 5394, all the D&RGW numbers. All DCC/Sound except for 5387 which is DCC ready - between those 6 and the 3 SP it was just shy of 2 grand! But I had saved up for them. This is the best I can do right now - I don't have an N scale layout right now:
2 BLI locomotives with sound. Bought from a TB member at what I think was a really good price ! Took them out to THERR RV and ran em. They don't pull as many cars as my Katos...3 cars less each train to be honest. I am chalking it up to 'break in time'...for now. The detail is great from 'normal viewing distance' which is all I care about ! AS some others have said. The insert sheet at the bottom of the jewel case for the function keys...leaves a lot be desired ! I scanned it and resized it to regular copy paper and even though I can read it now...with 1.75 reading glasses I am still baffled. The sound is decent to me. But since they are my first ever sound locomotives don't judge me ! Only real complaint is that you can't toggle down the sound from the throttle. You can turn the sound on and off however. Still more break in time needed and we will see.
I received my three Atlas U23B’s this week. The first one I ordered from Atlas and the other two I bought from Lombard Hobbies. The 2263 is the Gold series from Atlas. The other two are the silver series I got from Lombard. I’m very impressed with the new gold series Atlas locomotives. They sound better than my BLI’s and Intermountain locomotives. The sound quality is clearer than my other new locomotives from BLI. I am not disappointed with the quality of sound in my BLI’s! The details are amazing too! Compared with my other U23B’s from Atlas their 2006 & 2009 versions of this locomotive. At least I don’t have to paint the handrails on the steps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
SWEET! You got a whole engine roster at one time. Unfortunately, when locomotives you want/need are available you have to grab them. You don’t know when they will be offered again.
Neat additions to your loco roster. Your purchasing department did good. I have 4 BLI DCC/sound locomotives, all Paragon 4, and I think the sound is great. I foresee some train running fun in your future.
Got the ESU decoders in the mail this morning. Swapped out the circuit board for the sound board and wow the three of them in unison are super loud and crisp sounding! Hats off to Iron Planet Hobbies for adding the article number! At $96 each for the ESU LokSound 58925 E24 V5 NANO DCC Sound Decoder. Only one advice to anyone else who is buying the latest U23B’s, PLEASE make sure to clean the wheels on the locomotives! Obviously they have been sitting in China for the last five years. I found some green traces of corrosion on them. All it took me was a lint free cloth and some 99% alcohol to clean them up. I was wondering why they were running a bit funky on my layout. I know the tracks were clean but I did do another once over with cleaning them anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Who knew I wanted Montana Rail Link locomotives and rolling stock, not me. But so happy I purchased them from the same member as my last order, @BNSF Hi Line Sub , and man are these items nice. BTW, one of the flat cars came with a really cool pipe load I think it is, and I would like the exact same loads for the other two. I'll post a video soon showing the load, and it all running. Not only does it look great but the weight seems to help also with the flat cars. My roster went from 3. to 8 in a matter of weeks. I know that's not much for most people, but a lot for me. Sold all my old items over time the last year. It's been a great few weeks of purchases, and from the same member each time! Decoders installed by the dealer. Click To Enlarge!
These (New to me) BLI SW7's look, sound and run great. Just added this one to my locomotive fleet this week.
I have the KATO set, too. Runs great. Changed the decoder to ESU with a WVD adapter board, extra LEDs, speaker, etc. SOLDER things together as the little gray button does not do a great job of maintaining contact. I posted on my fix in Engines and Locomotives a while ago.
You may need a two-engine setup for pushing the CMX cleaner. I found it best to push rather than pull the unit. Works great!
You might try a TidyTrack unit. I put a few drops of 99% on the white pads and run back and forth with time at each end. Add a bit of IPA now and then as the engine runs from end to end.
