It started in 2021, and this is the second one here in 2024. The next is going to be in 2027 and as far as I know it will be here in Evanston again. There were rumors about it being somewhere else, but Lee the event organizer said nothing is confirmed about anything at this point. But that he is already planning the 27 event.
Sounds like Evanson again, but there is talk of it running for a longer time next time due to the amount of sections and turnout they had this year? But that's just current chatter or a rumor so far...
Interesting that MTL created a kit. The test car is available separately all assembled and painted in a few road names.
Family size Woodland Scenics Light Green Clump Foliage from my LHS. After repeated purchases of the smaller bags, I stepped up.
Another group order from Japan. With two other club members joining in to split the shipping. Lots of stuff that you can't get in the US or can but not at those prices! Crazy fast delivery half way around the world. Placed order Sunday, delivery the next week Monday, to east coast US. I doubt they are open on a Sunday so really it's Monday to Monday!
I have that Tomytec auto carrier waiting for me when I get off work, along with a few other goodies from Plaza Japan. I got the shipping notification Sunday night and now, 34 hours later, it's been delivered. This is actually bad because it encourages me to buy more Japanese trains.
Not railroad related, but just got a Kickstarter for a game called Battletech yesterday! It's kinda Z scale...
You will be pleasantly surprised about that car carrier like I was (this is my second order of them). The injection molding is so precise and perfect. Typical Japanese quality. Oh, if you ever order those forklifts, same thing. The fork actually slides up and down so smooth I was flabbergasted! Yeah, Plaza delivers faster than many US retailers that it spoils you. You do have to pay international shipping which is not cheap so I get together with a few friends and split the order. As an example, what you see there costs $40 for shipping from Osaka, Japan to US east coast using DHL Global Express. It does get here fast. The box had a sticker on it that says "2.5kg", about 5.5 lbs. Also, they include free gifts. This time it was a fan and eraser! Other side. I'm taking the fan to the next train show and look fashionable and be the envy of the crowd!
I’ve got a set of the Taki tank cars, marked for JP-8 jet fuel, that run between Yokota Air Base (my last assignment) and the port. Also the full Nozomi set. They are both great runners! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You mean the ones in book cases? White is an 8-car add on set for the N700S Shinkansen. I already have 8 so it will be a 16 car set like the real one. It'll look so cool on T-Trak. Might overwhelm the layout. The green ones are just tankers. Set of 8 for $97. Yah, do the math!
N700S Shinkansen, that's the bullet train right? Just watched it on the Smithsonian channel recently. Alright the math is $12.125 per piece Or in Jethro terms, naught, naught, carry the one, etc... Gotta love The Beverly Hillbillies!
