Picked up some scratch building supplies (window and doors) along with two very nice 22" long curved chord bridges made by Tomytec/Tomix. Each of them has a span of about 293.33 feet. I was a little concerned at first whether the bridges would accomodate double stacks but a quick test proved my concerns were unfounded. These are very nice bridges albeit will need a paint job to change them from red to black.

Just received a pile of Beacons and Winter Hatches from MbE. First time he sent them, they got lost in the mail. It seems Canadian mail no longer attaches tracking info to packages. So, the first batch of parts are in limbo, and Eric is out whatever it cost for them, plus shipping. I will still order from them, they got good stuff. Canada really screwed this up !!!

That is an awesome model. There's nothing quite like getting a brand new loco and firing it up.

Just received my Kato Amtrak P42 + 5 car set in bookshelf case, decoder for said P42 and the MT Gettysburg Civil War series 40' boxcar. Guess I'm going to try to get others put on layaway and have the set. Might be good thing to have, living in Gettysburg most of my life.

And, sadly, I've noticed two things; that Athearn box is almost a good mirror and my layout has become a desk! I really need to heed Chuck's advice and get it up and running again.

My Kato SD40-2 arrived at my office today. It did not disappoint! NS isn't even related to my freelanced proto layout of the Northern California coast, but this loco was just too cool to pass up. Watching the Oakland port in action as a kid, I was always intrigued by the sheer capacity of Maersk's operations!

I also received my Micro-Trains Pier Side Hotel. Has anyone built this before?

Glancing at the parts and "instructions" it looks much more straight forward than the Micro-Trains Cannery. I plan to mount the Hotel on a slightly bashed Micro-Trains Large Pier (along w/ a small cafe and bait shop). These three models will be the crux of my wharf scene. I have waited to build them until some other determinations had been made with the layout. And frankly, I had to practice on some cheaper laser kits before my newbie-ness ruined these pricey little gems!

The Hotel is hair under 2.5" x 2.5" and like I said, I plan to mount it on the Large Pier along with a cafe and bait shop.

Won on that auction site at the weekend: Athearn 4-6-6-4 Challenger with Tsunami Sound, UP#3985

And then on a 'Buy It Now' from the same seller: Athearn 4-6-6-4 Challenger with Tsunami Sound, UP#3964

Why? Because I just love the Challengers

I received some interesting goodies from Japan yesterday. I'm planning on building a few diorama/modules for my growing collection of Japanese equipment, so I ordered a few Tomytec building kits, three sets of two houses and a couple of small shops:
To my surprise, the houses are already painted, with glass installed. All that's left to do is put the four walls, the roof and a few small parts together. The small shops are already assembled with a couple of odds and ends to add.
Also in the shipment were additions to my other hobby, a '69 Nissan Bluebird SSS four door sedan kit and a '96 Nissan 180SX kit. Now, all I need is time!

A few months ago, I took a drive to Galveston, Texas for a train show AND because that city is the prototype for my new layout. I drove a route I have not taken before, over San Luis Pass and a long, long, lonnnnng and narrow stretch of beachfront. Saw gobs and gobs of beach houses, developed mostly within the last few years. and WPZephyrFan's new Tomytec kits, the ones on the top, would really capture the appearance of many.

I am doing the Galveston of the 1950s and my beach houses (I have only built one so far) are not so imposing.

Interesting seeing something I have not seen before.

I know this is off topic but do these laser cut kits require painting?
