OK! I finally got the Portram I have been wanting for a few years now, and I got it at retail price! I don’t know how many times I have seen this little tram sell for $200 or more. I refused to pay that so I had to wait a long time to get one. I can’t wait to see how it runs.

My grandfather started out with NKP after he got back from the Korean War and retired from NS. I run modern era stuff so I was excited to finally get my hands on these today. [IMG]

Latest Metra set from Kato finally arrived! I now own at least one of every individual coach number Kato has ever made (not counting Xmas OPN North Pole sets-can’t justify spending money on more than the 2017 set I already have). Only took me ten months from starting the collection until now.

Plus a very well done BRC SD40 from a previous owner-originally an older Kato undec.

The last two I am purchasing at this time. An Sd40T and an Sd50. Not sure where my other two FT units are, last seen in Hawaii.

Not really a purchase. Friend of mine 3D printed it all as he has done before for me. This time I sent him some N Scale locomotives etc… in exchange. He bought an HO starter set few years back, and now wants to switch to N Scale. I’ll post other pictures in a 3D printed thread I started. Think the aircraft are HO, but not the helicopters?

    Gonna post additional pictures here:

Those aircraft are pretty close to N scale. The planes at the front look kind of like Grumman Wildcats (with a strange cowl - maybe over zealous relief for cowl gun openings?) which have a wingspan of 38' IRL. 1:160 wingspan would be about 2-7/8". The F5s have a 25' wingspan so 2" is about correct as well.

This Class 750 Diesel (Czech) from minitrix just made it in. Was lucky to find one new as they have been OOP for a few years. This is my first Euro Diesel as I never really cared for the looks of the diesels in that region compared to what is run in North America. I thought this was an odd looking piece though so figured I should get one for my collection to pull my more modern rolling stock from the same region.

This engine is super nice with crisp paint, lots of applied parts and runs/creeps as smooth as a Kato. It even came with extra pilots for display without the rapido couplers as the swing of the couplers for tight radii requires some unrealistic cutouts in the currently installed pilots. Sound is as good as it gets and lots of lighting effects.

For futurama fans... looks like the love child of Bender and a locomotive:D

    Nice looking Loco!

So, do you replace the Rapido couplers, or keep them and just run them with other shock-absorber-equipped rolling stock (with Rapido's)?

I'm not at all familiar with European models, but do all their locos have truck mounted couplers? Does MT or anyone make a body-mounted conversion knuckle coupler?

I like the "cup-holders" in the top, too ;)

The couplers on that 750 are body mounted but they are on a swing arm that allows for close coupling on the straights then extend out as they round bends. With the buffers this is necessary to maintain looks and still accommodate operations on tight radius curves. This type of body mounting is pretty much ubiquitous for all the N scale locos and cars coming from Fleischmann and Trix over the past decade or so. If one wants to convert to knuckle couplers that is pretty easy but there are some differences one needs to be aware of:

NEM355 is the coupler mounting standard used for most if not all euro N scale for over a decade now and is what is used on that 750. It's a slick setup because you simply pop out and replace with a different coupler using the same 355 connection.

MT as far as I am aware does not make a coupler for this setup but Dapol out of the UK does which looks like a McHenry style magnetic knuckle coupler. I've never used them myself so can't vouch for how well or not they function but that is an option.

I replace the rapidos but with a "profi" coupler made by Fleischmann (pictured below and uses the NEM355) which is what I use on all my euro pieces. Probably the most reliable coupler out there but bulky like a rapido, not magnetic and not compatible with the knuckle couplers.

Mighty slow here today... here's a vid of the 750 to help change that. Sorry for the shake.

Are these the correct sizes for N Scale curbs, the .040 x .040 and the .040 sheet for roofs and such. Hobby Lobby purchase instead of driving 30 minutes to hobby shop.
Since I've come home, tested it and it looks like it is going to be perfect for curbs. Or as good as it can be. Very happy with purchase. Been wanting this for awhile. And sheets for roof look fine too.

94BFFC23-9646-48B0-A3A3-59F3F5D72677.jpeg I just love Showcase Miniatures! I just received my second tank car and 30’ flat car kit plus a roof top water tank that will serve as a loco watering tank on my Nn3 mining layout.

4 Viessman semaphores to add to my upcoming layout build. I already had 2 of this particular type but those are solenoid actuated where these are motor driven with a built in decoder. Once I assign an accessory address I just plug it into track power and done. Detail is impressive as always.

A quick test of one to see how it works.

Just change the colored lens is a lot easier than wiring two lights.
