Great Northern in my world asorbed the Union Pacific. Canadian Pacific - Pac Man only - Shares running rights over the main. The Grey and Grandure is a freelance shortline connecting to them at Grandure. Managment of the GandG policy regarding road names: If it looks good, Run it!So you will see a fulll spectrum of motive power and freight / passenger cars.
My Avatar pretty much says it all... CB&Q, Rio Grande and anything with Pacific... except Union Pacific . I also have a fair amount of Santa Fe and Great Northern. Most of the stuff I have is pre-Amtrak (prior to 1970) and I prefer the passenger trains of the 1950's to 1960s. I bought a bunch of Tunnel Motors; so, I also dabble in more modern (1975-1985) freight service.
BN on a fictional Sub-Division that links Boise, Idaho with Spokane, WA. I also run SOO (took over all of MILW) and a fictional shortline (Jamestown and Snake River, lets me run all the Alco power I want). I also have at least one piece of pool power from all the major class Is from 86-89. Adds a little color.
Mopac - prior to UP merger. Protolanced midwestern rural layout. (1st post with the custom avatar. Thanks Jake!) ~Tim
I model a freelance layout with the following railroads: Chessie System (any), B&O, C&O, some WM, ASB, Nickel Plate and some Wabash.
I model "The Standard Railroad of the World" in the steam era, although I have a few Diesels and some steam from other railroads. The Pennsylvania Railroad still runs around here!
My small, freelance Midwest granger railroad in N scale is a fictional line owned by the Milwaukee Road. Soo Line has track rights. My hobby within the hobby is collecting cars of Midwest roads, 1955-1975; all run at various times.
I model the Missouri & Ohio,a freelanced bridge route connecting the Missouri Pacific with the Baltimore and Ohio.Set primarily in southeast Missouri between 1970 and 1979,this concept has allowed me the freedom to run what I want on the M&O,while maintaining prototype standards for the Mopac and B&O.The research that goes into such a scenario, including writing a history for my road, is one of the most enjoyable facets of this wonderful hobby. The Missouri & Ohio is a fallen flag however, absorbed into the Missouri Pacific on August 2, 1979.
Milwaukee Road Lines West, late 1960's. With a little NP mixed in. And potential for proto-freelance. Boxcab E50
I primarily model the Gulf Colorado & Santa Fe, Texas & New Orleans and the International Great Northern. In other words, Santa Fe, Southern Pacific and Missouri Pacific by the names they were called in this part of Texas back in 1951. I also model some MKT, KCS, CB&Q and D&RGW.
I model the Chicago, Pittsburgh & eastern. A regional carrier that operates from Indianapolis, IN to Pittsburgh, PA to Atlantic City, NJ with trackage rights over the New York Central to Chicago. The era is the late 1960's. The layout is based in the urban/suburban area of Pittsburgh and is actually just an industrial branch off the main system. This part of the layout will serve many downtown business as well as several industrial complexes along the rivers. The eventual plan is to have at least 2 massive steel mills on opposite ends of the layout that will generate traffic in both directions off the layout to pointed east for export and west for construction and other uses. Being a steel mill railroad there will be a lot of dirt, a lot of grime and a lot of railroading! Being a Pittsburgh railroad, there will be a lot of bridges, a lot of river-side industry and a lot of switching!
Freelanced Tioga & Great Lakes Railroad set in north central PA, September 1956. Additional equipment from my favorite prototype/fallen flag, the Reading, for interchange & pooled operations. I also have a few pieces of PRR equipment for cameo appearances.
The avatar tells the story: First there were german trains, mostly Deutsche Bundesbahn in the 50's and 60's. Now it is either german or american trains, mostly Pennsylvania, but also NYC, N&W and New Haven. The scenery must be shared, i.e. there is a german town, and in another part an american town by DPM. Industry is not that different. So far scenery is plywood, so it is not yet specific...
Q-EL 1.) CB&Q......Mostly 2.) EL.........27 locos 3.) Anything that ran into New Jersey. (probably going to have to do a carfloat someday) The young guys at work say the BNSF stands for; "Better not start a family".
Lots of contemporary modeling and lots of western themes! I freelance a shortline subsidary of the WM which runs from Cherry Run, WVa to Strasburg Jct. VA (trackage rights over the B&O from Winchester south). Cutoff time is 1950, anything after that is just too hard to believe 8<). So why do I use Sante Fe diesels? Because I have a fleet of pre-1950 models all painted black with the classy zebra stripe and can block out the Sante Fe heralds with a marking pen and I get a ready made matching paint job. Then when I get my steam fleet running I can give them to my modeling friend who models ATSF. We'll see how this works when we get there.
im doin great northern and bnsf, (i think i have a thing for orange..) i also go for the green bn lines and boston and maine -NUTEY-
