Ooh. Both of these are great ones because they convolve one's modeling aspirations with one's opinions on real world issues. Big time holy war issues...

World War I. Easily the most important war in history.

Regarding model railroading; Code 80 vs. Code 55. I can't stand how Code 80 looks -- to me, it's like people who model 3-rail O-scale. BANISH THEM FROM THE HOBBY.

I was kidding. Well, partially. I don't like Code 80 in N scale or Code 100 in HO.

Having said that, the more people involved in the hobby, the more stuff will be developed and released, so do whatever you want :D.

    Switches vs. Turnouts

    Kitbash/Scratch-build vs. RTR
This one often comes with a chorus of people saying those who only run ready-to-run are not real model railroaders, and a competing chorus saying that people who kitbash or scratch-build are (take your pick) ablist/elitist/rivet counters. Sometimes the opposing chorus to one or the other side will come out in response to the most innocent of postings, like "Hey, check out my new Kato GS-4 fresh out of the box" to which someone will reply that this kind of out-of-the-box modeling is killing the hobby, or else someone will post a nicely detailed custom kitbash of a one-off prototype and then someone will eventually get insecure or upset because name-your-manufacturer won't release a ready-to-run such-and-such a locomotive with the pre-merger paint scheme as it appeared after three summers of sun fading in the SW desert.

I've been capturing and saving MTL factory air out of all the jewel cases I have opened. I'll throw my canister of the stuff on TrainStore if anyone is interested in making their MTL cars "unopened NIB" again.

Don't buy any of Adams "Factory Air".

Reliable sources say he had beans for lunch and is trying to pass the byproduct off as....
    "Factory Air" :tb-wacky:
