SP/SSW What are the structures atop sanding towers in several locations

    Screen Shot 2012-05-29 at 10.31.08 PM.jpg I’ve seen these structures atop the sanding tower drums at several SP locations, but I know nothing about them. Can someone please fill me in on their purpose. I”ve not seen them on any other rail facilities than the SP, so what is so special about them? They look almost like a girder bride of sorts. What are they made of?

    I'd agree. A conveyor system for filling the towers.
