    Tuolumne City Memorial Museum Field Trip to
    Camp 37, Camp 35 and Little Reynolds Creek Trestle

    The Historical Research Committee would like to invite you to a special field trip to Camp 37, Camp 35 and an extended trip to Little Reynolds Creek Trestle, Saturday August 1, 2009.

    Registration for the tour will start between 9 and 10 am at the Tuolumne City Memorial Museum in Tuolumne (Bay & Carter Streets). A detailed brochure with maps and directions will be provided on how to get to Camp 37, our first stop. Participants will proceed at their own pace to the camp site. Their will be signage along the way to assist guests to the destination. The drive to camp 37 takes approximately 40 minutes. You should bring your own lunch, water and chairs if you desire. You will be able to see the locomotive turning wye, cookhouse and cabin locations.

    Camp 35

    An additional drive of 10 minutes is required to reach Camp 35. It was logged in 1928 and is the highest WSLC camp (6300 ft) at 52.5 miles from Tuolumne. This camp is located just off the paved road. You will be able to see the collapsed remains of the cookhouse, cabins and, spur line next to it. The spur also proceeds toward Little Reynolds Creek Trestle.

    Little Reynolds Creek Trestle

    For the adventurous railfans we will offer a side trip, (walking on the grade )of 2 miles (one way) to Little Reynolds Creek Trestle. The trestle was used in 1928 to reach Camp 35 and beyond to log timber in the high country. The Trestle now collapsed still has large timbers and even a haul cart on site. We will walk from Camp 35. Time to complete a one way trip is 1.2 hours.

    Join us for a day at these historic sites.

    Visitors will have Docents, Art Kauppi, Camp 37, Ed Sieckert, Camp 35 and Jim Hudkins, Little Reynolds Creek Trestle at each site to present the history of these interesting camps

    There is not actually any track left in place? They're referring to the right of way?

    To my knowledge, no there are no tracks left. There are some in place in the town of Tuolumne though.
