It's time to dive right back in with the Photo Challenges!

Lets see those sweet SP models!

New photos are highly encouraged. :wink3: As always, Photoshop is allowed but the main subject must remain a physical model. One image per member.

"Times up" will be posted next Monday so don't wait until the last minute. After the times up I'll post the poll for everyone on TrainBoard to choose their favorite image.

    Best of luck! :D

Mark, No replies. I'm in three scales and don't own an SP unit. Looks like I may not be alone. I'm thinking this is a bit of a narrow topic. Some of our East Coast contributors may be thinking the same thing?? Jim

I understand Jim. The challenge is only a few hours old though, so there's plenty of time to go. :)

This topic is a result from a few requests I received to do some specific RR topics, so I'm going to explore them for the next few months. This week is SP, next week we'll choose a different RR. I wont be able to cover them all, but I'll do as many as I can. :)

Also, any predecessor or subsidiary RR is fully acceptable for these topics. So, for SP, there's Central Pacific, SD&AE, Western Pacific, anything that will fit under the SP umbrella is fair game. I know this will exclude some people, but we'll eventually get around to their neck of the woods to give them a shot at the win. :)

No that is and Atlas GP7; it was undecorated when I started. My error all the model is a Atlas GP38 High Hood

Hey, thanks Mark! Nothing special, just Woodland Scenics rock moulds. I use a hard casting plaster rather than Hydrocal, which I find a little soft. The talus/rubble is just smashed up rejected castings. Colouring is all done by airbrush, including the washes, it's just something I am more comfortable with...

    Some progress shots here... http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?104725-My-small-layout

Natural light REALLY helps. I need to weather that loco :)

    Thanks again,

    Phil

Great shot... two questions... what did you use for the water and what did you use for the ballast (looks reddish)? :)

Thanks. The ballast is just a mix of Woodland Scenics brown, gray and a little black. I think they still use crushed walnut shell or something like that. The water is a piece of textured Plexiglas with the underside painted muddy green.

Mine are no match for the quality of these, but here they are nonetheless...
PA is a repaint I did some time ago. The tanker and truck were done just recently. Not prototype, but I like 'em....

My error Bremner it's a GP38; sorry about that. It was an Atlas undecorated GP38 Highhood. I added BLMA details to Fan Assy's, MU & Brake lines.
    Sorry for the confusion
