From the Railimages archive, It's a rainy September Saturday in 2010 in Toledo Oregon as the Toledo Hauler Arrives at the station.
This one is from the evening of October 16, 2009 at the Amtrak station in Houston. The #1, Sunset Limited had just arrived and a UP switcher had brought two private cars up to couple on to the rear end. The open platform was facing forward to make it easier to have the cars positioned for switching onto the Texas Eagle in San Antonio the next morning for their trip to St. Louis.
A couple of weeks ago, basking in Missoula summer sun. The forest fire smoke was light, as is normal for every summer long, but it increased as the day went on. Ever since then it has been heavy every day.
Two shots from today in murky, overcast skies. First a smoky northbound NS oil train (I have never before seen an oil train on this line) and second a CSX freight passing by another SAL doll mast signal with lit dwarf. I wish I could get the red color to stand out more. CSX has been working at light speed to remove these.
Slugs work almost exclusively on the Toledo run. Back in the early 2000s, they were sometimes on the Rock train, but I've not heard of that in a long time. Last year one of them broke down. I believe it's since been repaired.
