Everything is on fire. Couldn't see a train to photograph it if I wanted to. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
Verrrry interesting. I must have felt a bit like Artie Johnson as the German soldier on the old Laugh In show as I snapped this through the bushes. This was in Owosso, shot from a back street that parallels the tracks. The date is lost in the sands of time, but it was obviously prior to the succession from TSBy to Great Lakes Central. This was one of TSBy's better looking diesels, sporting the Yellow, grey and red paint job. Some were still in Ann Arbor orange and one or two, if I'm not mistaken, were in grey primer. From anything I saw, TSBy was much more concerned about how they ran than how they looked.
With a major mill shutting down, this operation is now in jeopardy. Nearly ten years ago, the Pend Oreille Valley Railroad scurries east toward Sandpoint, from Priest River, Idaho:
Scenery like the Rocky Mountaineer photo is what domes are made for. Trains and nature - great combination!
Just out of sight around that curve, (well, you can kind of see the tops of the building) there is a cinderblock building that you might consider a freight house and some CSX offices. I think the building was used for storing supplies for the car department but don't remember for sure.
I saw this California Northern GP15 no too far from my house in Newman, Ca. It's a grab shot as it snuck up on us. It was very smoky that afternoon as there are several fires close by.
