A number of them passed by yesterday while I was doing some work at the museum in Rosenberg. Amtrak's #2 was on time as it cruised by going into Houston.

Some handsome mugs courtesy MLW, CP and Exporail:

I went to Exporail today (though these photos are from a couple of years back), where there was the Great Passion for Small Trains special event, and took some more photos. So I have some more fodder for this and other threads.

Russell, I love the sky in your Rosenberg photo.(y)

How about the forgotten horses. Here are some helpers on the Curve in Altoona taken between the Curve and Altoona. Coming down the brakes were screaming and going up the smoke was flowing!

This car is the west most car derailed by the depot downtown this week. It was a westbound loaded grain train and I still haven't heard what caused the derailment. 5 cars were laid down across 1 track and fouling the main. PIC_0546.JPG
These guys were brought in to get all the cars up and mobile again. PIC_0544.JPG
There's more on my you tube and on the BNSF Glendive thread over in railfanning.

Interesting to see the Chain hanging off the cut bar. Wonder what it is there for?
A good looking loco for sure and the info on the fuel tank is kinda cool too.

Was in the suburbs of Montreal yesterday. Shot a few moves at Les Cèdres/Chemin St Dominique on CN's Montreal-Toronto sub. Unfortunately these shots are not amazing as I took them under pouring rain....

Hope I'll have better weather conditions (and thus better shots) next time... ;)

Dom, I think those shots are great. The rain gives an ethereal feeling to the scenes. The undulating terrain around the Via meet is unexpected and surprising. I assume its apparent severity is caused by telephoto lens distortion. Otherwise that area would be a thrilling roller coaster ride.

Shot this Sunday evening at Fairforest, SC just west of Spartanburg on the former SOU mainline. The lead unit looks a bit weird with the number boards mounted on the low hood.

Thank you for the kind comment Hytec. True, undulation is caused by telephoto lens distorsion. ;)
