Hi guys, I'm trying to upload a picture, but railimages seems unhappy with me right now.

Stressful week, emergency trip to Portland to see my mother in law whose stage 4 lung cancer took a turn for the worse. Luckily, she got to see her Children and Grandkids before she left us yesterday. The family is OK. It was a long time coming and she's at peace now. Hoped that I could show my son some trains on this trip and there are plenty to see, but aside form the GP20Ds at Roseburg. and a Stack train that I occasionally saw going through the Shasta lake area(anyone who doesn't believe Ca is in drought, see Shasta lake...or should I say The Sacramento River as there's not much lake left)....and the MAX, we saw little.

    What did you all see?

Nothing. *Sigh* Vehicle back in repair shop, again. Daydreams of spending time on Marias Pass remain daydreams.

YoHo, condolences to you and yours on the loss.

Ken, what a bummer. Maybe you could find a nice second-hand tricycle and just pedal out:rolleyes:

Yoho, my deepest sympathies for your wife, you, and your son. I understand the mixed emotions when an ailing parent goes.

Condolences to you, your son, and specially for your wife. It sounds, in her case, that it should have happened long ago rather than lingering. I had an Aunt that lingered and, being her only family remaining, it was very hard to see her wasting away.

Here is the sign I posted last week that had not moved in 60 or so years. Well, it had to move now due to a construction project at the museum. Tried to pull it out of the ground with a chain and the lift on the back of a tractor. No concrete but that dude was planted way deep. The post came up about a foot then snapped off. We finally dug out the bottom and it went down another 4 feet. Must have put it in with a pile driver.

Our thoughts are with you an yours Yoho.

Was over to the rail museum in Terre Haute with our 10 yr grand-daughter. They had saved this C&EI troop car from the torch.

Here is another steamer for me. Old photo but I think I need to post it.

Aint she purty? To show my ignorance, I am wondering why the large loco only had two axle trucks on the tender. I would have thought 3 axle all the time. But what do I know.

Photo from J.E. Motts collection, shot by his father Gordon at the El Paso roundhouse, circa 1940'ish.

    Thanks J.E.,

    Carl

Why yes it is Boxcab. They even let J-birds inside, were she found an old type writer and they showed her how it worked. It really topped off her day
