Last Weekend it was a double day of Museum fun. On Saturday we drove down to Niles to see the Niles Depot open house. 2 very new model railroads, one in HO and the other in N are being built in the Historic structure. Also a small swapmeet was out front where I actually found an E&C Car shops smooth side Chip Gon in SP to buy. Of course watching the Steam engines go by with my favorite railfans was even better. Then Sunday it was down to the Cal State Railroad museum including a ride behind the WP F unit which I'd never see out and under power before.
How I spent yesterday (my birthday), wandering around the museum in Golden (which also happened to be Boulder County Free Day, so they were running D&RGW 346) and here are some shots from yesterday.
After no trains loading the week before, two trains were loaded at Bell County Coal last week. According to my NS friend Jerry, everytime he goes on vactation or isn't at work something gets messed. Seems like operations here just can't go on without him sometimes. Here is one bringing Mtys to the siding, later the power would run light to the yard to do some work there. This is probably my favorite shot I've taken this spring.
I've been there before! I thought there was a SOU caboose there but I guess it was in another town nearby.
