I couldn't even begin to say how much I envy your 2 year old right now...:)

Now for those who like see freight cars from fallen flags, here's one flag that fell a long, long time ago:

CGR was one of the floundering predecessors that became a part of Canadian National. This wood box car was built just a few years before CN came to be.

This is as close to C&O colors on a caboose, that I will ever see.

New delivery routes at work put me in the right place at the right time twice this week.

First I caught a rental unit crossing Rt 30 in New Oxford, PA on CSX D-795
    [IMG]

Then, D-795 again, a few days later I caught SD40-2 CSX #8100 leading thru Hanover, PA

Looks like an EOT on the coupler; don't think I've seen that before on a locomotive.

That unit is suffering badly from pink-itis.

The way that track shows in foreground, is this some sort of interlocking? Or is it just the camera angle?

yes, the silver isn't any better. The unit faces east and you can see the fading is worse on the south side.

7 Ex-UP boxcars sitting at the end of a line, in the middle of a field, near nothing railroad related. Location is near Columbia, PA along Rt 30. Been here for over 4 months

Is this an old industry spur? Or a former main track?

Are those yellow boxcars with the silver roof and ends or the boxcar red? Thanks.

They are the UP yellow with the large shield logo on the right corners.

Apparently, some of this line has been reactivated to serve a scrap yard.

UPDATE: I found out via a post else where the said scrap yard has the job of torching the cars for scrap. Imagine that.

I recognize some of the station names, from train orders in my collection.

It was built in August 1918. (or March, the month number is split right on the edge between two boards...)
