    I agree that the one on the left has an RS-1 outline, also early on GE made much, if not all of Alco's electrical and running gear.

    I am certain Russell is correct. But the countries of eastern Europe, post-WWII, were known for copying/reverse engineering a few things from other nations. Which is why I'd broached that possibility.

    The US sent a lot of stuff to Europe through Lend-Lease, which bolstered European countries in recovering their economies.

    That G26 certainly has a family resemblance to the G16. Mexico bought two dozen of the latter, with the dynamic brakes in the short hood.

    I agree that the hulk on the left could also look like an RS1 - there is quite a bit of space behind the cab. The RS1 theory might have some substance to it because lots of RS1s were shipped to the Soviet Union during WW2 and the Soviets did copy the RS1 to design their first diesels. It could be one of those! Now that would be cool.
