I wasn't aware. Its a great piece of history. Whenever we are up in the Glacier/Whitefish area my son always asks to go to the depot.
Yes. It was very tragic when he suddenly left us. Plane crash, 2004. After he passed, the area railfan and model RR groups slowly started drifting apart. Another fellow and also another friend, passed in this last early September, so now there is almost no communication or getting together at all. Sad. When able, there are days when I make a drive to Whitefish, and just sit with my camera on one of the depot outside benches. Listening to a GE idling in the yard. A crow cawing over head. Sometimes nothing at all is happening and the silence is great.
