Years ago, I found that one of my old N scale Atlas/Rivarossi Pacific locomotives had developed the dreaded zink pest where the frame was crumbling. I used much of the remaining parts to create a 4-4-2 Atlantic.

Good morning from sunny and cool Northeast Ohio!

Here is what I got done this week:

First up, another modified Athearn 2 bay ribbed hopper with Pikestuff Panels added, then painted with Scalecoat II Black Paint and lettered with Mark Vaughn's Wabash decals. The Wabash converted a lot of their USRA hoppers with new panel sides and then build new higher capacity cars as time went on, this is one of the new cars and was used in coal mines in southern Illinois. Cars were done with different sizes of the word Wabash, this is one of the earlier smaller lettering.

Next a Branchline 50' ARR Boxcar kit with A-Line sill steps to replicate the PRR class X44 boxcars. Car was painted with Scalecoat II PRR freight car red paint and lettered with Greg Komars decals. This car was in auto parts service to various Ford assembly plants from the parts supplier plant.

Some Wabash Power, a GP35, C424 (B Unit) and U25B on a general freight running on the Strongsville Club layout.

    Thanks for looking!

Here are a couple of pictures of Pelle Soeborg's Daneburg Subdivision layout. I was able to see the layout at the TrainLife store on a visit to Utah.

Backdrop makes a big difference for sure. It's actually not 48" like my base, but it's working for now :) It's just pinned up there with thumb tacks for now. When I park the CSX containers in the spur area with the refinery, it does not makes a lot of sense, but it looks cool :)

    Back to the past again.

You all know about a RIP (repair in place) track in a railyard. Well here is a DIP (destroy in place) track. This is a Gordon Motts shot made sometime in 1950'ish :

This weekend we have a special visitor to Leiperville Union Station. Central RR of New Jersey's Blue Comet dropped by. Locomotive and cars are Rivarossi.

A couple of old shots. The Davies Steel gonnis a special run from MDC Roundhouse from many years ago.
Since we're on a Grande theme, here's a short of the Rio Grande Zephyr passing a freight in Spanish Fork Canyon.

It's pretty interesting to see Pele's layout in person ... I had the opportunity to run my Walthers SW1200 on that layout.

Working or not, I love those wig-wag / banjo signals at your highway crossing. And excellent detail. When I was a kid, I remember seeing these on the C&NW's branch between Elgin, IL and Crystal Lake, IL. Of course, I never took a photo of even one. :(
