Your lovely creation may be an "oldie", but her sister is alive and well, living in Strasburg, PA.
Wonderful model of the original class. Thanks Russell.

Since we did not have a Weekend Photo Fun last week, here is what I would have posted!

Speaking of health, after I finished my last Cardiac Rehab on Wednesday, my wife tripped on the sidewalk and managed to mash up the ligaments in her hand and wrist after the ER X-ray showed no broken bones. Have an appointment with our favorite orthopedic surgeon next week.

With all this got some cars done this week.

Finished the 14th and final Anderson's Pseudo Covered Hopper from a Tichy Kit. These were ex-Wabash Coal Hoppers fitted with extensions and tarp covers so ship grain from the Anderson's Maumee elevators to the export docks at the Port of Toledo. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Silver Paint (with a hint of Green Paint) and then lettered with kit supplied decals.

Next a Front Range boxcar kit, where I widened the door to take a 9' Plug Door, removed the existing sill and fashioned a new sill from Evergreen Plastic, used a much better detailed Branchline Diagonal Panel roof in place of the kit roof and substituted A-Line Sill steps for the kit supplied plastic ones. Car was painted with an 80/20 mixture of Scalecoat II ATSF Red and Reefer Orange and lettered with Herald King Decals. The SLSF acquired these cars from Chicago Freight Car for use at the Memphis, TN Kelloggs plant. The SLSF at the time painted cars in different colors for the service they were assigned to accounting for these Red/Orange cars. They returned these cars to CFC about the same time the DT&I received very similar cars.

Finally, took my new Rapido PA-1's to the club last week along with my Broadway Limited Train. Had a great time with them, they ran superbly.

Good morning from sunny and cool Northeast Ohio!

Here is this week's contribution to Weekend Photo Fun.

First is an Atlas PS 2003CF Covered Hopper Kit, painted with Scalecoat II ATSF Red paint and lettered with Tichy Decals. This car was a repaint with the Coast Guard scheme that was introduced in the 1970's. The car was in Argonite service from the LV at Perth Amboy, NJ to whatever factory used Argonite (Calcium Chloride relative) that was mostly found in Spain.

Next a Walther's PS 86' High Cube Boxcar kit, painted with a 80/20 Mixture of Scalecoat II Light and Dark Green paint, then lettered with Highball Graphics Decals. The DT&I purchased and or leased several hundred 86' High Cubes from Greenville, Thrall and Pullman Standard for hauling Auto Parts from Ford Stamping Plants to various final assembly plants. This car was assigned to the Chicago Stamping plant in Chicago Heights, IL.

Another view of my Rapido PA-1's on the Strongsville Club Layout, I really like these locomotives.

N&W! Frisco! You know I love a covered hopper. (Calcium chloride, yum, yum!) @SP-Wolf, I'll have to throw in with @dti406. It looks like a 2-8-0 to me. However, I do wear glasses.

Great modeling and pics so far!

This week I completed my latest N scale SP SW1500 kitbash (my 6th), but this one is the first to have a Loksound decoder installed in it. The shell was built from Atlas N scale MP15DC shell parts with the exception of a piece of the handrails and the numberboard box, which was taken from an Atlas GP40/40-2 cab and was cut, filed and sanded to size (the numberboards are illuminated). The frame was scratchbuilt from brass and styrene and uses a Bachmann coreless motor, Tomix worms along with LL SW9/1200 truck towers with MTL Flexicoil sideframes and wheels. Grab irons, cut levers, sunshade track, class light blanks and MU hoses from BLMA, and the cab sunshades from TWX and wipers from BLMA and TWX. Armrests are from DA and the oscillating lights are from DA and SRE. SP appropriate horn is from MBE. See-thru grills made from Eduard Mesh and the radiator detail is scratchbuilt from styrene. Couplers from Atlas and MTL. Grey paint from Modelflex, scarlet from water-based Pollyscale, clearcoats from water-based Model Master and decals from Microscale. The sound decoder is an ESU Loksound 5 “Nano” with sound file #S0828 and a 9x16mm speaker is installed in the fuel tank (the tank, built from shortening an Atlas MP15DC fuel tank, serves as an air-tight speaker enclosure)…

This week we have a transition era moment. Jersey Central 2-6-0 Mogul (IHC) brings a local commuter into the station as a brand spanking new F3A (Athearn Genesis) rolls by.
