    Wolf,

Love those black widows, best scheme SP ever used IMHO. Seeing all the details, are those brass or did you add all the hand rails, grabs, etc. to Kato or IM ? Very nice and great image as well. Thanks for posting.

    Hi Carl,

    Thanks, for the kind words.

These are the original run Katos. I added the roof top grabs (.010 wire) Gold Medal Models windshield wipers and ladder grabs on the sides of the nose and Sunrise Enterprises plow (With scratch built coupler lift bars and hoses). I also use fiber optics for the the lights.

    Thanks again,
    Wolf

Went to the Raleigh, NC Model Railroad Train show today. A smallish show by "Great Scale" in Baltimore or the Massachusetts show standards, but it seems to be getting bigger each year. We have a great, great modular club in the Raleigh area call the "Sipping and Switching Society of NC". They are an "unorganized" club that models in HO modules. No administrative structure, no officers, none of that, they just model. They do excellent work.

Here are a few "photo-fun" shots from this morning:

The BN leased several locomotives from the DRGW/SP in the early 1990's, SP recalled them all shortly afterward. I remember seeing a DRGW Tunnel motor on the fuel tracks in Alliance. And a DRGW SD45 as the lead unit on a BN freight train headed North out of Denver one time.
Anyways here is a shot of the same in the loco ready tracks I caught, during an op session we had today.
Also a shot of a couple old work horses on the Quanah turn.
And caught the hump job classifying a train too.

Had the freight car bug this weekend. And even had time to actually play trains, between working on a barn, changing out a fuel pump,.....etc.
So, body mounted the couplers, lowered some gondolas, did a bit of weathering. Fun!

I Use a mix of drybrushing and pastels by Bragdon. Fun stuff. Still with Floquil paints, which can get a little . . . . . aromatic at times! Ventilation is always good there. But I discovered my white is dried up now.

Appreciate the comment. I have been working on the layout for over 30 years. I was into N scale, but had to bail out in the early 80's because of the lousy running locomotives at the time. The reason it has been taking so long is because of the lack of any hobby shops in my area. Like none at all. Until internet retailers came on the scene, I would put in a occasional order to Walthers or one of the companies advertising in model railroad magazines, but most supplies were bought when the wife and I were on road trips where we could find a good model railroad shop. Also, with a couple of acres of lawn to keep up, most work on the layout was done in the winter months.

As to the C&O steamer, I picked it up from an estate sale with the intentions of repainting it for my railroad. Ends up that it was just about 2 scale feet too long for my 90 foot turntables. Being that it was DCC equipped and I only operate DC, I sold it off to an out of state model railroad friend.
