I managed to get a little work done this week.

Atlas (Ex-Branchline) 40' 1944 AAR Boxcar Kit, using the 4/4 ends and Murphy Panel roof as the prototype used in the 1947 build. These cars were rebuilt in 1966, I found pictures of these without the running board, so I finished it without and cut down ladders on the other side of the car. Car was painted with Scalecoat II ATSF Red paint and then lettered with Dan Kohlbergs decals for these rebuilt cars. Car was assigned to flour loading out of Jackson, MI and was to be returned there when empty.

Athearn ACF 2970CF Covered Hopper kit, painted with Scalecoat II CNW Green paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. These cars were used for sand or cement loading and could be found nationwide, I have a picture of these cars in Reading,PA.

Rapido FL9's with a passenger train on the Strongsville Model Railroad Club layout.

    Thanks for looking!

Now that I've retired and completed the honey-do's I finally have some time to work on the layout. I'm completing the part of the layout that represents the EL's East Binghamton yard. Part of the challenge is selectively compressing about 2 miles into a little less than 10 linear feet. I'm modeling the late 60's/1970 but pictures of what it looked like then have been hard to find, so I've been using Google Earth street view to pick out older structures to replicate, combined with commercially available house kits to model homes in the scene. This is a scratch build of a tavern along the state highway adjacent to the tracks. It was opened by a childhood pal of mine in the late 70's, so it isn't exactly prototype for the time period, but makes a conversation piece. I've added the current street view.

Another excellent week. I don't think I've seen that particular view of the Strongsville club layout before. Very nice scene. Also, mrhedley has done a wonderful job of capturing that small local tavern, and Sven's snow scene is very appropriate for the season. Excellent shots all around. BTW, I assume that GM&O boxcar (nicely done as always) is going to get a set of stirrup steps soon;).
