A kit bashed depot that I built for a friend's HO layout. Built to represent the prototype in Hempstead, Texas. Here is the prototype.
Here’s a couple of old shots along the Zalma Branch. Lazy day at Greenbrier and the scratchbuilt depot at Zalma. Circa 1915.
Finally able to access my Photobucket Account, and since I got nothing done this week, I submit and old photo from the archives. Since it was a holiday weekend, I thought I would throw in one of my Bi-Centennial units, a DT&I GP38-2, which was I believe the only factory painted Bi-Centennial unit done. I may post some in progress shots later this weekend on a couple of cars I am working on.
I'm in the process of putting this very simple kit together. I was wondering if anyone else has built this, and what did they do to improve the looks... I have filled the gaps in the floor, and since I'm modeling Utah, I thought I would give it a concrete foundation.
I used the similar brick structure for a couple of kitbash projects. As you mentioned, a floor that can be seen through the open doors works wonders along with paint and weathering. A concrete, or since it's probably an older structure, a stone foundation would be a good mod, although I'd probably leave the loading dock itself on pilings. This is a structure that could be a lot of different things. I used the two story half of mine as part of a small flour or feed mill and the single story wing as a grain elevator warehouse.
This morning I decided to take Playa Desnuda outside into the morning sun. I even orientated the layout to the proper east/west direction….I took these pictures with my tablet since my Nikon battery was not charged…
Looking good Bremner! ! ! I have been putting together a "special" train to honor vets, POW''s and MIA's. When Atlas ships the NS Vet honor loco I will put together some cars to add to several I already have. Here are both sides of 3 cars I did last summer (trying to stay cool, dontcha know).............. USAX 001 USAX 002 USAX 003 Thanks to all who have served so that we may be a free country. Carl
I used it to create Acme Railroad Supply on my layout, which has generated good business (and income); highly recommended!
