Sure! Are you interested in the Japanese trains or the focus stacking technique? Here's one of the early ones I did, you can see I didn't add enough pictures as there are still sections of the image that are out of focus. It works by taking a lot of pictures at the same angle but with different focal lengths, then lining up the photos digitally and combining them so most of the resulting image is in focus. With this you can get shots that otherwise would mostly be a blur due to the small scale.
Kiha66, there may be simpler alternative of photographing your models, if your camera has the capability. Closing down the lens aperture will widen the focal length range, then increase shutter time to compensate for the reduced available light. An f16 aperture would give you good results, although an f22 aperture would be best if your lens has that capability. You then would need to experiment with exposure time depending on the available light and your camera's shutter capability. Shutter speeds of one-half, or even one second may be required. I assume you are using a tripod by how you describe your current photo technique. Obviously a tripod is necessary for long exposures. Good luck.

Spent the weekend in Denver having a blast running trains at the Rocky Mountain Model Train Show. This was our largest set up to date, using all 43 sections of the layout. The layout spans 125 feet by 20 wide, giving us a 4.5 scale mile run from Crawford (formerly known as the mountain) to the Wind Farm (one tower barely visible in front of the guy way back there).
Mark, that is an impressive, and beautifully constructed layout. I had never considered building bench work no more than a foot or so beyond the track, and just scenicking that area. Your long range photo emphasizes the overall system, not just the cute scenery details so often seen in shows. You were so fortunate to get a hall that long.
Thanks Hank. It's not that we were fortunate to get a hall that size, it's that Free-moN by design is flexible to fit practically any space available. If you like this, start making plans to visit SLC in July 2019. We're hoping for a slightly bigger layout...
Smoken’ Joe D’Amato sent me a new old kit as a gift…a Micro Trains Box Factory kit. Well, I don’t have a need for a box factory, but the Shell Oil depot needs an office. I have been looking at vintage photos of Shell buildings, and they seem to be all white with red trim. I sprayed the kit with Velspar satin white and Velspar tool box red…. I haven’t finished it yet, I test fit the roof tonight and I need to add the corner trim… I also need to load the dock with 55 gallon oil drums…
What part is wow? I actually look forward to this thread to see your creations. You have a good eye for detail and great skill. My daughter is similar in that way.
