Great photos this week. Is there a link to more info on the Santa Fe layout? I would like to see more. Began work on the Proviso Engine Facilities. More step by step info on the blog. http://genevasub.blogspot.com here's the prototype.
DarylK, Which one? First two photos taken at the pikemasters model railroad club in Colorado Springs. www.pikemastersrr.com Site is extremely dated and kinda poor. The last two shots, are from the La Mesa Model Railroad Club in San Diego California. http://www.lamesaclub.com/ Photos available here: http://www.pbase.com/tgcostello/la_mesa&page=all
Got my MoPac PA locomotive done (except for the weathering). I have decided that BLMA has a sinister plot to drive all us "older" modelers crazy with their detail parts. Wonderful parts, but every pack should come with a pair of steady hands and a good set of eyes as well!! Brian
I just noticed that huge exhaust stack on the one (156?) ALCo. What was the purpose of it? Spark arrestor of some sort?
Some photos from one of the HO layouts set up at the Santa Fe convention in Temple Texas this last week.
I really don't know. probably a spark arrestor. Mine model is round (styrene) and it should be oval shaped. Check this photo for info. Here is a comparison. (T&NO engine.)
YEAH!!!!! Love those smoky Alcos. Grew up with the old RS-10s and RS-18s around my neck of the woods. They could smoke up a storm. A geep goes by once in a while... meh. No smoke!
