Good morning from sunny and warm Northeast Ohio!

Got a couple of cars done this week.

Bowser ACF 1958CF Covered Hopper kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red then lettered with Herald King Decals. This is the sixth car I have done in this series the D&TSL used these cars to haul very high mineral content silica sand for use in the glass factories around Toledo and elsewhere and also used in making toothpaste.

Athearn FMC 5347CF Boxcar Kit, underbody detail was a little sparse so I added all the brake air lines and rodding to the underframe. Car was painted with a mixture of Scalecoat II Big Sky Blue and ATSF Red then lettered with Herald King Decals. The Columbus and Greenville bought into the IPD Boxcar craze of the late 70's and invested in various types of cars.

Finished up the plastic plant and pellet handling facility that will be installed at the Strongsville Club layout this weekend. Used a few Walthers kits and a lot of Pikestuff wall pieces and Evergreen plastic pieces to build this facility.

Atlas C-425 and Stewart U25B hauling a mixed freight on the Strongsville Club layout.

    Thanks for looking!

From humble tool-infested beginnings, almost exactly four years ago:

    From dream to today:

    IMGP4140A.JPG

Just like any railroad, it's still not finished. There's always something to add, change, build, etc. That little detail that makes it even better.

    And that's half the fun!:)

Thanks for the input. My teeth started feeling gritty when I read the covered car caption. More crisp work!

Very nice Mike. Pleased the conductor was sensitive to the community and broke the train at the crossing.

I recreated my very first Atlas Rivarossi passenger train. The heavyweight cars were only a baggage combine, a diner, a Pullman and an observation lounge. A few years later a full baggage and a chair car were brought out by Atlas to go with it. After thoroughly cleaning the wheels and motor on the old E8 I was surprised that it runs as well as it does. It goes slow enough that the old incandescent headlight barely lights up. Of course at warp speed it is a bright as a laser beam. The Lone Star freight is just there for background.;)

That's really nice Mike -- the sort of railroad that brings me a smile. It looks great and I know you enjoy it a bunch. (y)

It wouldn't let me see the video, maybe my settings are messed up or something.

Here is an image I made today of my foobie FVM locomotive hard at work oh the "Jackalope & Western RR" in Las Cruces. Foobie, yes has KATO motor and I applied my favorite SP paint scheme as well. I have a couple of good videos showing off my two foobies, on point, with one KATO Mid DPU and one trailing KATO DPU, all 4 units are running, no sound.

Hope you get a grin and as always, be well,
    Carl

BTW - have I ever stated that the SP lives in my world ?

Lone Star in the background? For shame!

Just kidding. A wonderful video. It looks like the Treble-O-Lectric goes through the Kato switches well. My son found the Atlas set someplace and gave it to me. The outside cover isn't perfect but the inside looks pretty much like new. It's an early set when Atlas was using the four digit set number (2016) before the later six digit (XXX-XXX) number. It cost $27.98.

I haven't had a chance to get the loco to run yet.

    Mike,
Looks like it's been a lot of fun over the years and has definitely produced some nice photos. The overview makes it easy to compare and find the locations.
BTW, I really like that GTW RS1. I've picked up an undec model which I'll hopefully be painting for GTW 1950 in the more or less near future.

The plastic wheel sets on the lone star equipment have all been replaced with wheel sets gauged to NMRA specs. I still have all the old ones if I ever want to return them to original condition. If I am running the train on NTRAK layouts at train shows, I want it to track well.
My original Atlas box is pretty worse for wear. The plastic insert and cover from inside are long gone.
