A few more shots, been refreshing the scenery: I must say, it's not the best, but it's satisfying and relaxing, and I'm thankful that I'm able to do it and most of all, enjoy the process. Eventually, will get around to doing update on the layout web site: http://home.comcast.net/~j.sing/Peavine_Layout_Overview.html Have a good week, all.
I bought 6 NS MTL 50ft N scale box cars on craigs list for 10.00, so i figured i'd learn to weather on them, I'm using the dry stroke method mentioned on one of Leo's 'Reality Reduced' podcasts, as well as the 'put the car down and spray paint 6 inches away' method. I've also found that I enjoy just dipping my finger in it and smudging it around fairly well.
my contribution A neat group of photos tonight - lots of good shots of trains but also lots of nifty layout detail shots that don't involve an actual train and are interesting all on their own. I decoderized this Southern GP-18 this evening...I do love the TCS CN-GP decoders. I've done a few of my own hardwired decoder installs, but I think this one represents a milestone: it was my first installation that involved absolutely no cussing and no soldering iron burns to either me or the workbench! While I was out picking up the decoder I also snagged one of the new Atlas N Magor/C&O cabooses. These are nice models! -Jeff
