After the passenger F3s and F7s arrived, the Santa Fe bumped the FTs off the Super Chief and El Capitan for the most part. Some, like #168, lasted a while before being repainted into the freight paint scheme. They even added the warbonnet shield on the side of the B units to gussy them up a bit. I am repowering my N scale Hallmark Brass locomotives with Intermountain mechanisms. Here are the first two out of the paint shop. San Diego, CA in May of 1954.
The SP lost a train in Montana, And a just about sunset shot of mallet 501 pulling hard through a deep cut.
Good afternoon from party sunny and cold Northeast Ohio! Photobomb finally opened up so I could download pictures I took this week. Built a 40' PS1 boxcar that will be painted and decaled for the Rock Island. Also built a 4650CF ACF Covered Hopper for the N&W. Started on a Plano/Athearn PS 2600CF Covered Hopper that will be done for the Katy before I tackle a number of these for the DT&I. Athearn Genesis F7's will a coal drag photographed on the Strongsville Club layout. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
SP Wolf, is that a short and steep section of track I see on the left side of the building? Looks interesting; do you have a photo of it from another angle perhaps?
Some BN power waiting for a train. An Oakway SD60, that was wrecked and rebuilt, I have images that I took of this unit in Alliance NE. The frame was bent so much that it was bowed up, a bit. A generic of not mundane GP40, but a great locomotive, boy will they go to work for you right now, and give you everything they have. And an SDP40. Just another SD40 on the BN and BNSF, at the end of the day, or decade(s), but, it was a great work-horse and locomotive. It was as built a boiler equipped passenger unit, delivered in "Big Sky Blue GN paint". It ended up as like has said before, a re-geared, capable work horse for many years. An SD60M, anyone who models or follows the BN knows theSD60M. They were awesome locomotives, and lived up to everything EMD said they would. Which is a far cry from some of the GE C-4 loco rebuilds to date. This one sports an Oakway or Conrail rebuilt #1 cooling fan. I always try to build my BN SD40-2's to have subtle differences, whether this ladder at the inertial intakes (pics available) or many other variants of the SD40-2's, and BN had a bunch of them. I just wish they had, had them delivered with extended range dynamic brakes. As always I appreciate you taking a look
