Nice work everyone - very inspiring. John: I am fairly new to digital MR photography too, but I would like to offer you two comments. The first photo is highly successful because of the low angle you have chosen - it got my attention immediately and the imposing profle of the six-axle EMD unit is shown to advantage. I would suggest trying this shot with more depth of field so that the tunnel portal is a little more in focus. To do this, put your camera in Aperture Priority Mode and stop down as far as you can go (f8 for a compact camera or hopefully f22 for a DSLR). This will result in a longer exposure time so you need to be on a tripod. Tim
Sure is Steve. I've pretty much stuck to Digitrax products, the DN123K3 is designed for it. As cheap as I am... I've always used wired decoders, but decided to try something different and use the drop-in for the NW2. It didn't seem hard to me... I had the whole engine apart while detailing and installed the decoder while I was putting the mechanism back together.
Nice work everyone! I've been able to make more progress on my layout rehab. Here's one of the main features on my layout. I finished the rocks and put on a coat of ground cover paint. There are a lot more details yet to add (ground cover, trees, bushes, etc). I tried to give the rocks a dirtied look from years of trains passing by. There will also be a pond at the bottom: Here's a close-up of the top: Here's an experimental rock wall. Still not sure if I'm going to use it or not:
Ughhh...you guys ! STOP working on stuff...and making it look so good...wait for me to catch up will ya Its all looking great...Friscobob LOVE the Frisco units!
This was supposed to be done tonight but I didn't make it. Here is a Robert Ray NYC caboose that is paint, and some decals away from being finished. I am amazed at what Robert can do with a laser cutter. Everything on this kit is wood except for the grabs and the etched brake wheel. That includes the brake hardware. The brake cylinders and reservoir have as many pieces in them as the rest of the caboose it seems. Great attention to detail.
Better late than never. I was messing about with the camera last night and took some shots from the back of the layout looking towards the front of the layout. I used one of my removable backscene boards to create a temporary sceneic backdrop Jon
Athearn models Thanks!...Those are the new Athearn RTR models. It's the SP version. It has the L window and the MARS light but it's not operational. Overall I'm not impressed with the actual model but it's the only thing out there so it will have to do. The last one(949) should be delivered sometime in March
Back from the show From Friday to Monday I participated in the FREMO meeting in Krefeld, H0-fine. I've made some picures, you can see more at the meeting site. Wolfgang
