World's Greatest Hobby Show in San Antonio this weekend. Children were everywhere! Largest scale model that I saw today at the On3 layout.
Nothing much from me this weekend. I did catch NS making an exit out of the Cumberland Valley's prep yard ...
'Finished' shots of AM Co. #1, a custom build project of one of my 18-tonner resin kits for a customer. I was a little skeptical on the color trim requested, but darn, I like it in the end! This one got me researching mining applications of Climax A's. They did exist, not many, but they did. That got me researching tiny mining cars, and I found a good prototype and drawings, and the master is finished and making molds as I type this. I should have these ready for sale in about a month... stay tuned...
Thanks Steve. The shades... I took some .006" wire, bent a frame(like a straight grab iron), drilled through the cab and secured with the frame sticking out at an eyeballed, "close enough" distance. I took some regular ol' printer paper, gave it a tan wash, cut a strip, gave it a bow by bending it over a #62 drill bit, then secured one end to the cab, the other to the frame and soaked the whole strip with CA to make it rigid. The folded up one used the same process, but I bent the frame upwards before soaking the paper with CA. One of our oldhead Santa Fe Engineers is also a modeler(AT&SF, '50s and '70s). I was telling him I was working on an NW2 and he made sure I was going to put canvas sunshades on it... in a profane and threatening manner:tb-biggrin:
Sorry to disappoint you. All my stuff is HO. I've only built two layouts in N Scale and that was back in the 80's.
Man, the inspiration in these photos from both modeling and photography gets me moving. I have a ton of scenery to do so I best get going. I think I say that every week. Hope these inspire someone. I am very much a rooky photographer so please don't hesitate to give feedback. Thank you. P.S. my favorite in this thread so far has to be Grampy's. For the dramatic shot from the riverbank up to the bridge.
Detroit Edison coal train, mid train helpers passing through the rock cut at Carbo, WV. Nice about DCC, easy to match speed to have powered helpers in the middle of a long train. See ya. Larry http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showgallery.php/ppuser/8745/cat/500
