As promised... looks like I caught a weary old gon left on a dead end spur by a Milwaukee Oblivion Express.
Sacrificed a Fine N Scale 36' boxcar to be the yard maintenance shed on the "Alameda-Belt-in-a-Box" layout: Lots of great work this week! Thanks for sharing, all.
How about video fun? Here is an overview of the layout I'm building. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpb_1fzAkV8&context=C39faf7fADOEgsToPDskKQHgWummd12Sp_36XVqHp2
I'm having a lot more fun photographing the ATSF layout since I got that portable halogen spot that clips on the suspended ceiling grid.... Finally getting the deep shadows and depth I've always been missing before. Here's some shots from the actual crossing in Flagstaff: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=170492&nseq=166 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=160421&nseq=188 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=96129&nseq=226
Thanks, Randy, and I hope my Climax looks 1/2 as good as those when I get it done. The V&T ore cars were fun to build & looked great: [So long ago: before water!] Unfortunately they were partially destroyed in the Great Vacuum Disaster of 1906 (an incident that received little coverage, as all reporters were distracted by the SF Quake that same day). So things got bent, wheels went missing, breakwheels bounced away, etc. But I think two will make pretty good "temp" coal bins here, and the third might become the mine car on the other side. Luckily, I ordered two packs of three when I did, so I can have another cut of them as soon as I want. And I could "refurbish" those that got sucked up, but it might be fun to have them as some scenery as well. Thanks again for making great kits!
I borrowed my dad's Canon Rebel XS to shoot some photos of the Gulf & Ohio Midland's yard. I managed to catch PRR GP30 2203 and C&EI 1200 tied down between crew changes. These two have been working along the G&OM Little Kanawha Secondary for some time now. Brand new G&OM SD45's will be delivered when the weather breaks in the next several weeks. Here is a shot of G&OM 1113 in run 8 and sanders turned on, struggling to get a cut of 38 loaded hoppers moving over to the #4 track. Seems she has developed an oil leak in the last few days with the hint of blue in the exhaust.
